    2 days stranded in Colorado

Happy Holidays to all. Just wanted to show some pictures of my past two days in Colorado Springs, CO. I live in the small town of Canon City, CO. I work 50 miles away in Colorado Springs. 12-20-06 I started my new job at Briargate Surgery Center on the northern part of Colorado Springs. Very close to the Air Force Acadamy.
Working in surgery, I arrived at work at 6:00a.m. These pictures were taken at 11:00 a.m. on Acadamy and I-25 almost to the south bound ramp. I was stuck in my car for three hours! Total white out conditions! Not knowing the area very well, I realized there was a Hotel just 100 yards behind me. I also was driving my 2003 Stratus and not Maggie! No navigation either! Maggie needs new shoes! Anyway, after writing a note stating I was at the Drury Hotel and please call before towing, I walked the 100 yards to the Hotel and was fortunate enough to get the last room!!!!! I called all the authorities I could with the same response from all of them. There main priority was to rescue people who were not safe. I couldn't get through to Triple A,and remember I had an Auto and Home protection plan through a recent loan. Called them and the best they could do was send someone at noon the following day. 11:00 the following day I looked out my hotel window and my stratus had been towed. The drifts were so high it buried the car and the snow plows couldn't get onto I-25. As the tow truck started to hook up the SUV stuck behind were I was, i ran down the four floors of the Hotel and through a 6 foot drift of snow and made it up Acadamy before he had the SUV completely loaded. (That's how far from my car I was, about 100 yards! By the way I was extremly out of breath and this was not attractive. my athletic abilities aren't that good. It just sounds good!)) I asked the man where the stratus had been taken, he said to his tow lot that was 20 miles away!!! I asked if he saw my note and of course he said no. I was a little upset with a tow fee of $160.00!!!!!
I had to stop and collect myself because I am fortunate to have gotten the room and to have been safe!! Many people were not as lucky!
I wonder if I would have left Maggie There? That's a tough one to answer!
It's Friday the 22nd and I just arrived the 50 miles home and it's 45 degrees and not a trace of the white stuff!!!
This first picture is North bound I-25.

Can you see the car? This is from the hotel room.

My husband still doesn't understand!! He was home where there was not snow! Check out the motor!!
    Happy Holidays To All!!

Yes!!! Snow for Christmas, I haven't seen that in awhile.

We're all glad you're warm and toasty now.
It looks like 2012 will be very good indeed.
Unless the Mayans are right, then, well, never mind.

I feel your pain. I too was stuck in Colorado Springs in a complete white out back in 1988. Being from California I had no idea of the seriouness of such conditions. Took 4 hrs behind a snowplow and police to get back to Denver. Quite a white knuckle ride not seeing the road...no pun intended.
