I was thinking about potential mods for the Magnum. The Magnum will use the 2.7L V6, the 3.5L V6, and the 5.7L HEMI V8. All three of these engines are currently being used in other vehicles, or are they?
2.7L V6
This engine is currently used in the Concorde, Intrepid, Stratus, and Seabring. However, the eninge in the Concorde/Intrepid is mounted differently than the Stratus/Seabring. There is virtually nothing available in the way of mods for the Concorde/Intrepid. I believe there are a few more mods available for the Stratus/Seabring, but I'm not sure.
So how is the engine going to be mounted in the Magnum? Will any currently mods out there work with the Magnum? Is there any big changes between the existing engine and the one for the Magnum?
3.5L V6
This engine is currently used in the 300M and Intrepid. It was previously used in the Prowler and LHS. It's cousin, the 3.2L V6 (which is basically the same engine as the 3.5L V6), was used in the Concorde and Intrepid.
Like the 2.7L V6, there is little in the way of aftermarket mods for the 3.5L V6.
So how is the engine going to be mounted in the Magnum? Will any currently mods out there work with the Magnum? Is there any big changes between the existing engine and the one for the Magnum?
5.7L HEMI V8
This engine is currently being offered in the Ram and the Durango.
As for currently available mods, I'm not sure what's out there.
Like the other two engines, how will the HEMI be mounted in the Magnum? Will any current mods work with the Magnum? I do know that the HEMI will now have cylinder deactivation. Was there any major changes to this engine versus the HEMI in the Ram and Durango?
It seems that Daimler-Chrysler isn't as open to revealing their souce code unlike Ford and Chevy. Kenne-Bell has been working on a supercharger for the Ram for some time now. But, due to the problems with computer calibration/souce code, they haven't been able to introduce a SC yet.
Is the thinking at DC going to change in regards to the source code? If not, I fear that there will be little in the way of mods for any of these engines, especially the HEMI, since many companies can't or won't go through the trouble of trying to crack the codes.
What are your thoughts?
