So this was an ordeal. The process goes like this: Call Summit Racing, place the order. They bill you and provide you with a shipping address and an order number (probably after a call back because they need to contact Spectre Performance). Then order a new hose and have it sent to the address given to you by Summit... and be sure that the order number is clearly written on the box and somehow attached to the hose!!! Then Spectre will braid it and send it back.
Notes: Gage at Summit was awesome to deal with. I have his direct extension written down at work, if you want it, post here and I'll be reminded to provide it. Their website is www.summitracing.com.
Mopar Supercenter is the BOMB! I spoke with Ted about what I wanted to do and he pre-ordered the hoses... something NOBODY will do. All other dealers want you to pay up front for anything they don't normally stock. Ted was also cool enough to include the order number on each hose, and on the box, and get everything out the same day I called him. Suh-weeet!
Erik at Blessed Motorsports is trying to work out the same deal that Summit has so you would deal with him instead of them. As of right now he hasn't had luck and with his surgery I'm sure it won't happen any time super soon. But hopefully in the future he'll be the guy to hook you up on these!
There's no reason you couldn't have this done to all the hoses under the hood. The advantage versus buying the stuff by the foot is that you get the curves built into the hoses... if you bought 18" of 1.75" diameter hose and tried to get it to bend like this, it'd probably end up in your radiator fans!!!! Same with all the other stuff. The braiding is bonded to the hose, JUST LIKE the by-the-foot stuff. No cheap sleeves here!!!!
Total cost, including the hoses, the braiding, the clamps, and shipping was around $110/hose. Without further adieu...
