Some questions and wanted upgrades for the Dash hawk

I want to know somethings about the dash hawk I use and I wish it had some more stuff.

    1. The trans temp gauge...I get that it shows the water temp if you are in Park but I REALLY can't believe my trans temp doesn't get hotter than 165 in town driving...come on really, is that a real trans temp reading or something made up as a combination of other temps?

    2. If the car can show Oil Temp why can't the Dash Hawk? I would like to put my oil temp as one of the warning lights but it isn't there.

Anyone else want to add anything? I know there are some Dash Hawk beta testers on this forum, can you contact anyone to ask on these and other questions that will come up?

165* is VERY typical for the NAG1 trans for every day driving.
It takes my JGC SRT8 about 1/2 hour to reach that temp.

Yes but if my water temp is 205* from sitting in traffic and my oil temp as shown on the EVIC is 198* there is in my mind little possibility that the trans temp has not risen also.

I'm right at 165 daily. When I push hard I'll get up to 185ish, but thus far never higher. I think my aux cooling is really helping there.

FWIW, Red, I've verified the DH readout against an IR temp gun on fluid just pulled with a dip stick. Its accurate to within a few degrees.

Ok Jason, I just don't see how after some fast driving my oil can get to 225* and the trans temp never seems to get above 165* on the Dash Hawk....I just wasn't sure if it was incorrect...cause if it doens't get any hotter then why the hell did I buy that trans cooler than is sitting on my work bench waiting to be installed

Mine at 165 moving also .... thats the reason I didn't get the trans cooler. Sitting in traffic mine does go up sometimes equal to the evic water temp.

I also believe the trans fluid is moving thru the cooler at a higher pressure/faster flow.

Well it was never directly established a tranny cooler was needed. I never thought we'd need it for around town or even city traffic driving. But when its 120deg outside and we're running at Laguna... well I didn't want to worry about it, nor the power steering fluid boiling (which has been proven to be a problem). Made sense to do both at the same time.

Tranny cooling overkill? Yeah probably, but I'm ok with that.

i wondered about the dashhawk as well - try this and see if you get the same results:

165* in drive -shift to neutral and watch where it goes! - mine hits 210-215

If I understand it correctly the trans temp displays what the water temp is when you put the car in Neutral and Park.

Thats what I was trying to say......but I notice it cools faster when you start to move....hence my comment that the trans fluid flows at higher pressure/more flow....cools faster than the water .....and I have the police cooler installed also.

Oil temp, fuel pressure and fuel temp pids are differnt in way too many variants of the programing. I have talked with them about this. No dice so far.

Thats one reason why Diablo makes the cars update thier PCM software

Try using AutoStick and do several long high winding 1, 2, and 3rd gear runs and see what happens to the tranny temp reading.
(After your car gets up to temp try maybe about 5-10 miles at 5000 rpm in first....lol....just kidding on this one...but then why not?)
You aren't running a tranny oil cooler are you?

The trans temp sensor only gets powered when in gear.By default the PCM sends engine temp when in park or neutral
