RT swayed a bit during a test drive - New shocks and springs

Test drove an RT for the first time today. Thought it the best handling American made wagon I've ever driven. Although the suspension comes FROM the Mercedes E class, maybe because of the higher weight I think the RT swayed way more than the Mercedes or Bimmer wagons. I think a special shock and spring package that doesn't ruin your kindeys might be one of the favorite aftermarket changes.

I am investigating stiffer sway bars. I would think that would help without adversly impacting ride.

Hopefully the Mopar and/or SRT-8 setup will be flat and tight.

Remember that American cars are usually setup softer than their European counterparts, even the ones bound for the No. American market.

Personally, I'd like to see a no-nonsense spring, adjustable damper, and sway bar package. I'd definitely give up some ride quality for performance.

I went out in the SRT-8 today for lunch. It has a much stiffer suspension than the standard 300C and Magnum RT. Brakes are bigger, motor is bigger, sway bars are bigger, springs are bigger, wheels are bigger, you name it, it's bigger :-)

Magnumrt: I understand that you probably could not take pictures without suffering serious negative finnancial consequences. I plan to buy a regular Magnum RT, but as as DCX stock holder, it it is good to hear that the SRT-8 is apparently on track.

Sorry guys, I wont take pictures of it, but even if I did, its pretty beat up and ugly and looks just like a 300C with big 22's, other than that, you would never know it was an SRT-8. Just like all developement cars, its beat to hell and the wheels are painted flat black.

    magnumrt:

    Do you feel the love???

We are praying to the D/C gods for the SRT-8.

In the meantime, if you are aware of any Mopar tasty bits in development to aid the performance of the R/T, please please please keep us in the loop.

    Best Regards,

a whole bunch of toys are being developed for the SRT version like suspension, exhausts, intake, etc, but thats all different than what the standard LX platform has, not sure if anything will realy fit to be honest.

And yeah, I am pretty sure the Chrysler version will hit before the Dodge version does. But I can't say for absolute sure. ;-)

I would think that everything on the SRT-8 would fit regular Magnums especially the RT V8. The SRT-8 parts should be available thru Mopar and PVO at dealers. Just like most Factory tuner parts, ie. body kits, shocks, springs, sway bars, exhaust and wheels FROM AMG fit on regular models.

Also, hopefully they see the need or a market to build an 300 SRT-6 and/or Mopar parts for the 3.5 liter cars with a Mopar sport package.
