    Parking Brake

I want to have the parking brake automatically release when i put the car in gear...does anyone know how to modify the car to allow for this action to occur?

Since the parking brake is mechanically controlled, you would have to hook up some device that would be linked to the computer telling it when the car was in gear, and than activate a solenoid or something similar to physically disconnect the parking brake.

Ford used to do this on the Crown Victoria. I don't know if they still do. Maybe you could investigate one of those and get some donor parts to make it work.

    brake

    well sounds complicated...

cadillac does this and it's useful because it is easy to forget and begin driving with the brake still engaged...

    i won't make the attempt...

    thanks for your feedback...

The wife's (soon to be gone we hope) Seville STS has this if you're looking for ideas.

This dosn't sound like it would be too hard to pull off. Simply splice INTO the neutral saftey switch output to control a new relay that drives a solenoid that is connected to release the parking brake using a new aux release cable. You made me interested enough to at least look under the dash, and see how hard this would actually be.

that would be awsome, i always use my parking brake, because you really shouldn't keep the LOAD on the tranny...and sometimes i just forget for a lttle while, especially with this engine....it can overpower the Pbrake so easily...

Been driving for 43 years and I use my parking brake all the time. I have never driven off with it still on. Attention to what you are doing can do that.

I always use my parking brake (well, not on my old Jeep...I think it froze up).
