Opinions? Spray painting doors/pillars..can u get good results? Will it last?

Im overseas in the military so i cant get the SEM paint i hear about for painting plastics. So can i use plain dupli color paint? The one used for plastics of course and will it last long as far as not chipping? Our tan interior looks like ass so thinking of going with a satín black or semi gloss black. Opinions please? Anyone done it or seen it done before? Thanks

i used black krylon on my upper interior parts. itll last on the pillars that arent touched. the plastic going around the sills wont last long. theres rubbing when doors open and close and over time the paint will start coming off. you will need to go an extra mile to find a better way to get the paint not to come off

Its best to use the paint the had the best bond but its all on the primer you use. But as long as you scuff the surface to remove any gloss surface to pomote a mechanical bond rather then just a chemical bond hen you should last quite a while. We use scotchbright to remove gloss or you can use 320ish grit sandpaper. Then clean clean clean with alcohol or keytone (methyl ethyl or methyl propal are best). Also make sure to wipe solvent off before it dries or you will have a residue. If you prep good enough you can get away with another paint.

One thing you may want to consider is to use 3M matte black vinyl to wrap your interior panels. I've seen people use it on the exterior of their cars, but never seen anyone use matte black 3M to 'black out' the interior of their LX.
