Not a typo... I painted my calipers Cool Vanilla today!

Turned out pretty darn well I think.

I got the paint from www.eastwoodco.com. They specialize is OEM color matched paints. There apparently is some debate as to if this spray paint is actually high temp rated or not (website doesn't say yes or no, but an email from them claims it will handle caliper heat). I ran a test for a week on a single caliper first, and all was well, so we'll see how it holds up.

Looks pretty good, how long did it take to do? Does the paint have to dry for a day? I have been thinking about painting mine red.

I'm thinking about red for the caliper and black for the hub area just outboard of the rotor.

ought to look good on my Stone White Magnum R/T

Thanks guys. Yeah Ozzie, I hope that paint holds up too.

I've got to give credit to my lady for this mod. We were both trying to figure out "what was missing" from the wheels for a while; we like 'em, but something was just... well missing. Then one day she blurts out "hey, what about painting the brakes to match the car?"

I'm gonna try for some better pics. These don't really give the best feel for the overall look. Its just subtle enough and yet still eye catching.

Scorpx, it took around 4ish hours total. I jacked up one side, pulled off both wheels, taped off, hit each with three coats 30 mins apart, threw the wheels back on and did the same to the other side. I was able to drive the 15 mins home from my shop after the last coat, with no probs.

LOL CV, I had been toying with this idea - looks like you just make yourself the self-appointed Cool Vanilla caliper guinea pig! I'll be very interested in seeing how well the paint holds up, and how hard it is to keep them clean...

Looks pretty sharp! Now it's time to put the bones back on your wheels...

Or you could say "VC, CV" which is what I say. How much did the paint cost? I like it alot.

The Magnum has a soul. It has a personality, something all too lacking in the automotive transportation appliances everybody else is offering.
