    No alternator at the strip?

Seems like an easy mod. Disconnecting battery feed should do it. May not free up much hp but more is always good, right?

Running on the battery will reduce voltage fairly quickly. Not totally sure on the LX system, but usually: All of the sensors in the EFI system are calibrated for the alternator voltage (~14 v), not the battery voltage (~12 v), so running on the battery only will alter the readings. This may adversely affect anything electronically controlled, or in an LX: everything.
A 130 amp alternator, at full output, at 14 v, puts out 1.8 KW, or about 2.5 hp, even at very low efficiency you might gain back 5 hp, but probably you are looking at 1-2 hp. I don't think it would be a net gain.

Digging up an old thread here. I used to have a switch in my old Chevy to cut voltage to the field wird. Cay you do the same here? Switch on/off the field for the couple ponies.
