    Magnum 2.7 Mushy Tranny shifts

I could not afford a hemi Magnum, and gas just went the sky again anyway, so the 2.7 and good looks is cool. At 200 hp and 3800 pounds the car does alright until it shifts and it feels like you just stepped in poo . Are there any upgrade or adjustment the dealer/ tranny shops can do for much firmer shifts? The trany a 4-Speed Automatic VLP 42RLE Transmission works fine but shifts like crap. Also if you know of any other hp upgrades for the 2.7 holla at me

welcome RoamticBlues. nice of you to join us. the PCM (powertrain control module) on LX vehicles equipped with a 42RLE transmission contain both engine controller and transmission controller. when it's time to shift, the TCM (trans controller) part sends a torque reduction request to the engine controller. the engine controller then reduces torque output in order to smooth out the shift. this sensation is increased with the addition of VLP (variable line pressure). maybe not the answer you were looking for, but, i'm afraid that's life with an LX. at least untill they come out with a programmer for the 2.7L.
Izzy pics money talks. unfortunately, mine usually says... "good bye!"

First, Welcome to the forum. Jet Chip would be the only upgrade for the 2.7l right now. It may help your shifting a bit. Look at the v6 forum and you will see some good info.

The best thing on the 4 speed tranny shifting is to pull the fuse for the TCM and replace it about 15 mins later. This will make it go back to stock settings and erase all the adaptive learning parameters. If you can't find the fuse, disconnect the neg battery cable instead.

Well I know your pain my 2.7L friend, I had to make some changes to mine ASAP, I have several threads in the 2.7L V6 Section of this forum with bounds of info on what I have done to my Magnum. You already checked out one of them, here's the link to the one outlining my Intake Install from FacrotyD.

Now that all my systems have firmed up and recognized the Intake, chip and exhaust, there is times when the shift is so smooth you barely feel it if at all (usually above 3500rpms) now when in slow moving traffic under 2000 rpms i can still feel a firm shift but since the jet 2 my shifts have been consistently at 3750rpms unless I am WOT

Another reason to get the jet chip 2 for the 2.7L, what octane of gas you running in yours though.
