    Low Tech DVD part deux

I had to choose between the Superchips programmer and a DVD system. I went with the Superchips. Luckily, my father-in-law gave my daughters a 7inch DVD player for Easter. The gears in my head immediately started turning. I went to several stereo shops to find a mount. I found this Panavise mount at Al-n-Ed's. Easy install. I had to make a custom mount for the DVD player itself. The bar and mount raises the DVD slightly above the AC vents. That way the rear passengers can still have some cool air. The monitor height is about the same as the OEM system that is offered by MOPAR. Prices: DVD-free(althought you can this exact model at RadioShack for about $110), Panavise mount-$39. MOPAR console DVD system-$1000 plus. You decide.

All in all, very easy and it works great. I just screw off the bar from the bottom mount. I told my girls that the DVD is for long trips only. The DVD has a built in stabilization system and it tracks find. It does not bounce around. I just hook up the power cord to the center console, plug in two head sets with a plug spliter and we're are ready to rock. My next step is to install some wireless headsets. I can also use the the DVD as a monitor and maybe hook up my PS2. We'll see.

    Enjoy!

    PEACE OUT YO!!!

Very nice. It's a great thing when the gears spin the right way.

It's how you use it, not how big it is.

Pretty cool! Can you specify how / what you used to make the DVD mount. I get the Panavise mount, but what did you do to actually make the DVD holder?

It was off the bottom wall bracket for a wheelbarrow wall mounting kit. I bought the mounting kit at Home Depot a few years back and I had it sitting around. I was looking to see what I could use. I looked at the wheelbarrow kit and it just flashed in my noggin. I had to do some trimming on the metal bracket. I'll take more detailed pictures tomorrow and post.
