    Front Licence Plate Holder

Anyone come up with a replacement fitting for the front licence plate holder? Mine clips to the bottom section of the grill then is further secured by two large self tappers INTO holes INTO the bumper. I would like to lower the plate to just below the grill line.

State Troopers up here pull you over quick when they see you riding without the front plate.

There is instructions scanned onto the site somewhere. I planned on turning them INTO a how to. I think they are in the Bentley grill thread.

    Hey C4me,
Were are your pics posted of the relocated front plate? I would like to see them b/c I am about to change over to a billet grille and I think I may have to relocate the plate to make it work. I just wish the freakin dealer would have left the plate off. I can't believe some would take self tapping screws to the front end of such a nice car

I can't remember which thread it is in! If you see the instructions and see the photos on the E&G car, it is the same. Since I don't know how to post photos, I will send them to you via Email if you'd like. PM me with your Email. OK?

Found them! Look at 300 tech/mods under Got mail today, 2nd page, photos were posted for me by LakersFan. His post, my Magnesium C.

Thanks C4me, that is exactly what I was thinking of. Quick question...did you have to tap new holes in the bumper when you relocated the plate? If so I guess it's not a big deal since the plate covers it up.

The front plate was not installed, so the only holes are the ones for THIS mounting. But, the folks at E&G say to just make new holes. I held mine in place, marked them, drilled small pilot holes and put in the screws.

    did mine last night

I did the license plate mod last night and here are a few things I learned:
    1) use a dremel to cut off the ears that hold the frame to the grill. There is also a small tab
that needs to be taken off. It's located at about the middle of the frame.
2)Using a box cutter with a new blade, trim the excess plastic that melted when you cut off the ears and tab.
    3) Following the angle of the frame on either side using the same razor blade being careful to lay the blade flat against the original angle before the section that wraps over the bumper. This will guide you up the frame to the top. If you really want it to fit you will have to trim the top horizontal piece about an 1/8th of an inch all the way across and following the same contour so it fits to the slight "V" shape.
    4) using a small drill bit, drill just one hole in one of the mounting holes of the frame and attach one of the screws. This will hold the plate in place so you can level it and then drill the second hole.

    Hope this helps :D

Yep, that is how it's done. I didn't even try to trace a line with a blade, I feared scratches, but I did do lots of small adjustments to my small grindings. It is easier to take off more plastic than to TRY to put it back on !! Just take your time, whichever method you use, and the result is worth it.

I just mounted my front plate holder this morning on my 300c.
I don't have a lot of tools, or a dremel, but I was able to cut down/off all the plastics with a wire mesh hand cutter that I already owned.
    Similar to this
With a metal file, I smoothed the rough edges.
