Electrofied is thinking too much again... 007 style

Actually... I have been seriously looking at the side static cargo windows... I know some have replaced them with sheet metal and painted them...

In my sick twisted mind I have considered doing just that... Replace them with sheet metal, add hinges and actuators and presto chango... motorized flip up or down equipment mounts for... speakers, wetbar, media center, LCD, paintball gun, etc etc... Air intakes for the turbine engine I want to put in the back ROFLAMO...

Seriously, I have thought about this little project on and off ever since I got it. I would make them in a two sided design, two identical panels joined at a right angle so even when they are deployed, the hole/opening is sealed against the weather and what not...

    Any thoughts on this?

Have not decided yet... I want to mount the actuators on the inside top of the fender housing or base side on the base of the cargo floor.

If they pull they they would open/swing up. If they push they would swing down to open.

What I need to do is make a template of the window... find a hinge design I like that gives me the range of motion I need, decide which way I want them to open, buy the actuators, then [play around until I find the right mounting setup.

Once done paint the panels black so they look like stock static cargo windows.

The good news, depending on what I mount on the panels, I will not need a very powerful actuator for either window. I may even consider other alternatives like large servos, electric motors, etc with stop set switches for adjust range of motion and motor shut-off.

Small Stainless steel piano hinge would probable be your best bet, easy to hide and maintenence free.
