    Daytime Running Lights

I saw a post about park sensor FROM MGD and followed it. He mentioned he installed an aftermarket DRL on his 300. I followed the link. It looks good. Here is the link:

    http://www.webelectricproducts.com/drl/drldetails.htm

I will ORDER it soon and do a how-to when I install. I will probably install an over ride switch as well.

    Thanks MGD

Maybe I missed this, but why not just install the factory DRL used in the Canadian cars? Is it not a plug in module like on the LH cars?

My understanding FROM other posts, but I have not validated, is that the US model will not recognize the module. I few people have loked INTO it.

I kind of like using the turn signal as DRL, instead of of the headlights. Some of the headlight based DRLs, including my current car, can be a little bright.

I know of someone who has turned their headlights INTO DRLs using this product.

Just be aware that the headlights are in parallel and not serial so you will need to run a wire over to the other headlight. This link tells how he did it..

In Intrepids, all you have to do is plug in the DRL module and it works!

That's why I'm finding it hard to believe we can't do that on the LX.

We can do it with an aftermarket unit. As for the Canadian setup, I 'll wait until my car shows up in a week or so and then dig INTO it a little deeper.

When I get mine, I will inquire about it at the dealer.

It would be better to do it "legit" ie FROM dealer's service dept programming the car rather than installing a piece of hardware which involves tapping wires under hood... In the end, the wire taps breach the integrity and can cause all sorts of problems...

If the dealer tells me it's not possible due to lack of programming etc, THEN I will pursue a hardware method of seting it up...

The DRL's is a turn-on system using the starscan but they won't do it on US cars unless they are rentals. I don't know why this is but you will have to ask DC. The 300M had a module on the Cdn cars but a lot of members of the 300M club bought the module FROM DC and I think they paid about 80 bucks for it. I of course have the DRL's on my C and love them, but then they are mandatory here.

While researching this topic I found some technical info

1: Daylight running lights use the headlights controlled by PWC, pulse width control,
2: In Canada they use lower beams while in the US fleet(rental) cars use the high beams
3: You probably need the ambinent light sensor on the dash to work prperly
4: It might be as simple as a dealer flashing the proper module !

I have the DRL-1 module installed on my RT. I also have the auto/light switch installed.
I wired the DRL-1 with the overide option. All light functions operate normal.
