Does anyone know of a chip or programmer in the works for these cars??

None yet. I talked to Hypertech and they were looking INTO it.

Don't hold your breath. This might take YEARS given the complexity and the DCX unwillingness to share info . . .
And once a chip does come out, dont buy it unless it modifys rev limiter, shift points and shift firmness. Those simple things will make a nicer setup.
I think I would just be happy with a Cat Back, COld Air Intake and some 3.55's...should make for a really fun ride!!
I'm sure there will be some growing pains, and frustration for lack of aftermarket mods.
Does the Magnum have an OBD port? I have a SuperChips Microtuner. It makes a HUGE difference. I haven't had a dyno yet, just going off of the 'seat-of-the-pants-o-meter' :D
Taller gears would definately be a major plus. hmmm,... I guess you really would need a tuner or chip to correct the EEC huh?
Well,... in due time I hope.
Magnum Fan,.... not a troll
I thought I saw an OBD port under the steering column....
Unholy

LX platform has OBD-II port. The problem is that there are 5 protocols OBD-II talks; 4 are well supported by aftermarket kits; the 5th is CAN (ISO 11898) which is difficult. The LX platform uses CAN.
The protocol itself is going to be hard to reverse-engineer. People are working on it, but there's nothing out yet. You can buy a PC->OBD adapter for ~$300 but there's nothing that understands the DATA under $2k yet.
I got my Hemi (Ram) in January of 2003 and have been waiting for a good programmer ever since. Just a few weeks ago Superchips came out with something that looks promising but still doesn't adress some serious issues (like the electronic throttle or shift points). Jet has had something for maybe 6 months but most claim it doesn't seem to do anything. That is all for the 2003 Hemi Ram which there are a lot of on the road already. Hopefully the basics of the 2003 Ram will apply to the LXs and it's won't take as long as it did for me. Even the 2004 Ram programmer probably wont be ready until next year though! If anybody has a Hemi LX in Orlando I'd contact Superchips and see if they need a test mule. It would mean a free programmer on your part which might not seem like much, but they seem like an otherwise friendly and honest bunch.
The Superchips may not add a ton of peak HP (maybe 15) but it adds quite a bit to the midrange (up to 30). Some people with mods have shown .4 or .5 sec gains in the 1/4 mile, stock trucks usually about 1/2 that.
Let's not flame the new guy here, but I would guess the fact that the Hemi LX's are drive-by-wire may be a reason that aftermarket chips / programmers for this application would be slow coming to market. Nevermind the added levels of complexity - think of the potential liability implications... One glitch and your Hemi goes to WOT and sticks there... "Houston, we have a problem..." :o
It will be diffecult for the reprogramer's to reverse engineer the PCM. Hey, they have done it in the past and they will do it again. I love the old saying "Where there is a will there is a way" and if there is enough interest some kid will hack their way INTO the PCM and make the modifications to remove/add what we want.
