Aftermarket Radios in the Magnum and amplifier location.

If anyone is interested in putting aftermarket stereo in their Magnums like i am, here is some useful information.

There is a kit for this car out, its is a Metra Kit number 99-6507, its is listed as being for the 2004 Durango, but i purchased one, because the 2004 durnago and the Magnum have the same radio, and a buddy of mine in the car audio business pulled my radio out and the kit fit perfect.

I have a RT with the Boston Acoustic sound system, which is cool if you are doing anything aftermarket but i want to! So if you have the same there is only one plug going INTO the radio, it has power and ground and three sets of odd colored wires that run to the amplifier that is located on the drivers side up under the dashboard. My buddy practically took the whole car apart and finally found it. Also there is tons of room under the passengers seat for amps, and there is a bunch of room behind the glove box for radio brains or satellite radio tuners.

Just thought this info might be helpful and save some time for some people trying to make the car sound goon on the inside!!

    Thanks!!

I am interested in hearing what components you replaced FROM stock...like stereo, amplifier, etc... I am trying to determine if I should spend $$$ on the RT upgrade or spend the $$$ in aftermarket. I would also like to add a DVD player in the rear.

Is the boston acoustic/nav system worth it or go aftermarket

i was wondering what quality the boston acoustic speakers are and if it is worth ordering the rt with the nav system or just save the money and go after market i was thinking of going alpine multi function headunit, 5 ch amp, dvd nav. Any suggestions

"So if you have the same there is only one plug going INTO the radio, it has power and ground and three sets of odd colored wires...."

well maybe its a different stereo head... I have the 6 disc/mp3 player in my rt. On the back there is (if I recall correctly) 3 different wiring harnesses. I have no idea which goes to what. I'm hooking up my audiobahn subs to the system. We didn't cut any wires though, because we didn't know which wire was the amp turn on/off wire. Any ideas? Are there any wiring diagrams out there yet?

    thanks
