Adding led strip in trunk..

i want to add a led strip in the trunk but how would i wire it to come on only when the trunk is open? just run the wire the where the bulb is? or is there a easier way

Nope. You have to tap into the wire harness that goes to the trunk light under the mat. That is how the lights in my sub box are wired up. You know where I am if you need me to show you.

Just two, if I remember correctly, one is purple and the other is brown. Thats what I hooked my trunk lights up to, and they only come on when the trunk is open

Yep, there are only the two that go to the trunk light housing. they are kind of tight to get to, just undo some of the tape and tap into those for + and -.
