    WRX vs SRT8=DRAW

man, i dont know what the hell i was racing, but it was pretty damn quick. looked like a regular wrx at first. he had a slightly modified exhaust and i dont know what else. no spoiler, i couldnt tell if it was an sti. it was black, and it was highway speeds with barely any street lights.

we worked our way through traffic a little. flexing our muscles at each other.

im kinda next to him running it up a bit. pacing him. then we got a nice spot to open it up. i got the jump a bit and had a couple cars out of the gate. might of been going about 65 or so. he followed suite and wouldnt you know, that little sucker stayed behind me the entire time up to 140+. i looked down and saw 140 and decided it would be in my best interest to take foot off gas and apply brakes lol.

the car sure as hell feels slow when theres another car right on ur ass going the same speed lol.

i imagine he was as suprised as i was about the outcome. we decide to try it again (missing my exit number 2 chance). i think he wanted to go from like an 80mph roll and i was trying to slow him down a bit cause that only ends up in crazy topend runs. i get next to him i think i slowed him down to about 70. he smashes the gas. i follow him....same result as before. i cant pull him in, hes not pulling away.

by this time i was like 4 miles past my exit and decided i should turn it around and head home before something bad happens. flashed my lights and headed off home.

damn this thing felt like a slug once it hit 4th gear. or maybe im just upset that i couldnt pull away from a stock looking wrx lol. total sleeper. my cars not a rocket, but a little turbo 4 banger hanging with the srt8 is pretty good. it had to be a high 12 second car on the track. ive run down lightly modded and stock ls1s before without much problem. oh well.

on the return trip i encounted an m5. he kinda got on the gas a few times, and i hammered second. soon as it looked like i might pull next to him he let off. he did that a couple times and then turned down the street. im afraid to see what would happen if i ever got into for real with an m5

Suprising ain't it. I got my azz handed to me last week by one. He had by a car lengh at 70 and the only reason it was one car lengh is that he couldn't shift to save his Fn life.

I ran a WRX STi a couple months ago. We went from a roll at about 20mph and by the time we hit 80 he had me by 3 or 4 car lengths. If we raced from a dead stop it would have been even worse. 300hp in a light little package with AWD.

I really considered an sti before I bought my magnum, but I decided that the extra room of the magnum was the difference maker. That, and rwd just seemed like a lot more fun than anything else!

it mighta been a de-spoilered STI. i dont know enough about them to tell the differences. all i know is that i could barely read WRX on the back (looked like it was a black badge on a black car) and it had dual pipes on one side.

my buddys older wrx wagon (or whatever the wagon is) was running mid 12s and looked and sounded bone stock. those things can be made quick pretty easily.

this was the closest race ive had yet. only lost to my buddys 405rwhp camaro.

Don't sweat it...you had FUN and that's what it's all about. THAT's the real prize. You know what? Anyone can BUY speed. Besides, there will ALWAYS be someone out there that faster, stronger, better looking, skinnier, has more money, etc, etc, ad nauseum.... BUT...

You can't buy "class" and that is what we got!

Ahhh Foooooeeyyyy!!!!! Would guys want to be driving around in that tiny little thing no matter how fast it is. I really have no use for a little car like that. Cool that it is a street legal rally car, but it is still an econo box with a race motor. I feel just right in my Magnum, not out to race every Honda and VW on the road. And I don't drive a car that is the size of a shoe box. I drive an American V8 that is not the fastest thing on the road, but I can take passengers and anything else on a fast ride. I just laff when I see all these Mini's, Bugs, and tiny ricers all over the place. I think WTF???? Is there a parking space shortage I don't know about???

    HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!

a STOCK STI is no joke. As much as I will sit here & joke about a "boob-a-r0o0" the STI is sick, a stoc WRX makes roughly 225 hp? and with some mods its fast as hell, stick and AWD. and a STI is 300 HP stock, stick & AWD. some mods & that thing is a monster.

Dont be disapointed. U were upagainst a monster. THose things are NO JOKE. Open a turbo tuner magazine or what not, they have those things running times that would make your head spin.

Least you hung w/ the heavy Shaggin' waggin' & showed him the Hemispherical heads are a site to be reconded with! Im sure he thought it'd be an easy kill. Those cars are fast as hell as much as I hate to admit it. Boob-a-r00. I'd rather drive a kia with a giant turbo.

great point. power vs. weight. its a tiny car, big turbo making big power. He must have *&$^$Ed when a 6,000 lb wagon was hanging besides him!!!!

Put the Hemi in a car 1/2 the weight, and see what happens.

Probably a heavily modded non-sti. I know I beat a standard WRX in my RT at the track and I've gone up against some STIs in my SRT and they're pretty close, but they can't hang, especially from a roll. Generally car mags put them in the mid 13s in the 1/4. But for you two to be matched up, he had to have something going on under the hood. That's the nice thing about turbos - it's relatively easy to get tons more HP.

I am gonna bank on a STI...the 06's don't have the large spoiler on them and they are fairly zippy cars but there gearing goes south in 4th gear and up. Plus they just don't make the torque that the magnums do

There's no comparison when comparing the looks and inside comfort....

I'd take the Magnum's inside, over feeling like I was stuck in a soda can with a bee, any time! Bzzzzzz. Bzzzzzzzzzz. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
