Let me start off by saying I am not even close to being good at building things and it is a mircle this turned out as good as I think it did. I got an idea the other weekend to replace the stock folding piece in the rear with a old school looking wood floor. I wanted it to be functional, hold it's self up, so I can still access the spare & battery.
1 4x8 piece of birch
2 hinges
4 silver thresholds (got creative here)
1 cabinet handle
1 can stain with poly
2 piano bench arms (on order)
And this is what happened....

I still need to cut off the bottom of the nails that are holding down the thresholds but no hurry. Once the arms get in they will be installed also. I'm sure this has been done before but I haven't found any pics yet. Feel free to critique as you wish.
ALSO... I got the rear spoiler painted today to match the car. $60 at a shop here in Austin that did a great job on the front end after it was backed into for the 2nd time and had to replace the bumper.

Loos good! I'm thinking of doing something like this, but with composite cork flooring. I know, not the sturdiest to drag stuff across, but I think it will look really great for show (and I have some left over from our basement floor project). I'm also thinking how I can use it as a side-panel in the back to hide the nooks and pockets behind the wheel wells.
Still in love with my first wife, and first car ('68 Charger)... Still have the wife!

Looks good man! I know its kind of late but instead of shaving the nails why don't you just use shorter screws so they don't poke through to the other side? I'm sure you can find some stainless ones so you can polish them along with the strips.
very clean.....
Thanks ya'll. Yeah, I thought about getting some diff nails but I just went with the ones that came with the strips. Didn't feel like going back to Home Depot again.
