if you can feel it with your finger nail then there's nothing that can be done about it. but if it's a scuff [frosted like mark] it can be buffed with a special glass polish.

I'd be unstoppable if it wasnt for Physics & Law enforcement

There is no way to fix anything other than a scratch in the glaze which can be polished out. Anything other than that, and the windshield will have to be replaced. They can't fill scratches etc. as they can still be seen.

Tilt your seat all the way back like a "gangsta" and the scratches move up in your field of vision...problem solved.

    Simple; Cyanoacrylate.

Go to a nearby hobby shop and pick up some thin (as water) cA. The reason for this is that the stuff we use to build radio contorl aircraft is significantly more pure thna what you get elswhere (the cracking process is more invlolved). Ensure the glass is clean, and carefully place a drop on the chipped area and allow it to wick into the fracture. The cA will catalyze in a few minutes, any material protruding above the windshield's surface can be carefully trimmed with a razor blade (OLFA, single edged, etc).

What this does is change the refractory nature of the light entering the damaged area. Doing this on fresh damage is more effective, as over time foreign particles begin to contaminate the damaged area making absorption of cA more difficult.

What to do with the remainder of adhesive? Help your kid build a model airplane, fix the wifey's broken procelain/pottery/etc, glue someone to a toilet seat, etc.

This may not remove real obvious scrtaches, but I've clay barred my windshield and it really helps remove some of the micro pitting. You know, all those real tiny pits you get from normal driving.

I build fly radio controlled aircraft, work within the electronics/aerospace industry, so I am privy to some rather interesting adhesives.

One day I got an offer to fix any stone chips for free on my windshield. Low and behold they use a similar substance (that catalyzes using ultraviolet light source). First a localized vacuum is applied to the affected area. Then the adhesive is drawn within the fissure as the vacuum is removed.

As water-thin cA moves by capillary action, I tried it on another stone chip...and achieved precisely the same results with out all the fuss.
