Why you should always wax your car

Take a look at this photo. Bird crap from parking under a tree? Oh no, not me. Not that lucky. This is concrete, buddy.

Happened on Rt 195 in Massachusetts just past Fall River. Construction crew was sawcutting concrete on an overpass. Problem was they weren't collecting the water from the wet saw, so me and about a hundred other cars drove through a waterfall of concrete slurry.

This shot is after I went through the touchless carwash. Barely took anything off. It sat and baked in the sun all day while I was stuck at work. Luckily, I had detailed the car over the weekend, so the wax was still pretty fresh. Got home and washed and rewaxed until about 8PM.

It looks ok now, but its covered in a haze and needs a clay bar. I can't imagaine what would be involved if there'd been no wax on the car.

Everytime I was in a construction zone in MA there was a State Trooper doing traffic control (read: overtime). Instead of paying attention to what was going on, they were looking in the hole with another construction worker.

Blame it on lack of funds because of the BIG DIG ???

Right, you'd have to know about MA politics (or lack of). If the rest of the country knew their federal tax dollar$ (read: their mod money) went to bail that project out, they'd be pissed.

Back to waxing; waxing is a good thing.

I hope you're pursuing it... they're 100% liable for damages to vehicles on the roadway. If they didn't close it, they can't interfere with it, PERIOD. Hell, in IL, even excessive dust/dirt in the air over the roadway isn't legal if it's open to traffic. My girlfriend deals with this stuff for a living. Two years ago they had a blowout on a form on a bridge railing... concrified (new word) a conversion van passing underneath. No questions... paid sticker cost of the van to the owner within 48 hours. Not that your damage is that excessive, but if you reported it when it happened you could take it to get sanded and recleared if you wanted and they'd have to cover it. Same goes if you drive over fresh lane lines that aren't coned off... if it's documented, they make sure it's off your car.

Wow somebody else has this too!
1st good spring weekend I detailed the car; next day what looks like mud on the right side does not wash off -- I called it cement water (is there such a thing?)
Had to clay it off, thank goodness I had waxed it first. Still need to get it out of the wheel wells.

Glad I washed and waxed Tuesday, since I went through Fall River today! My Mag is silver, so If I got any didn't notice! Had a buddy a few years back on his boat passing under the Mount Hope Bridge. Oops, they didn't see the sign saying bridge painting. He came to work trying to scrub green dots off his hands and face! The boat had to be refinished. Bridge paint doesn't wash with soap and water!
