I had a '89 GT in FLA for awhile. I got 26mpg at 70 and 22 at 100 going back and forth to the beach. Loved it, but you gotta watch the T5 3rd and 5th gear synchro's. The are very weak under pressure. Also, the Fox platform tends to crack/break just behind the drivers seat. You can add the convertible brace, or an aftermarket subfame connector to fix that problem. Do that before you add any horsepower. And the brakes seem to be pulled straight from a '64 Falcon. (Notice the 4 lug?)
    Happy HORSEpower!

On a side note, I parked my 'stang right beside my brothers '60 Falcon. The are the same length, width and height, but the Falcon weighed in at 2400# w/ a 302/auto and my Horse was 3400#. (Yeah, he killed me off the line)

Cory - before my R/T my last V-8 was a 89 GT Convertable 5 speed. Loved the car and it handled decently for a live-rear axle pony car. Mine looked exactly like your picture except it had the grey lower ground effects and a convertable.

Enjoy the racing and tuning, and be SAFE!

I as well had an 89 G.T. Burgandy though. One of the most fun cars I've had up to this point. The great thing about the Pony car is you can drive it so effortlessly, lots of torque. The 89 also was the first year of the bigger throttle body it was rated stock at 225hp which by todays standards is paltry but in 89 wasn't bad. Enjoy this car you will have a great time with it.
