Well 1 Year With My Mag

Well it's been one year since I drove my Mag off the lot and I do have to say I love it now just as much as I did the first time I drove it. For it's anniversary I gave her a nice wash and took it back to the car lot and let it have a few moments with some friends

Just a few pictures below. Thanks to all on the board for all the info over the last year...it's been priceless!

I just went 2 years on my RT Mag and just went over 91,000 miles on her. There is a bunch of joy in the journey and no disappointments. Lots of motoring fun for the next 300,000 miles!

The Lord bless and keep your coming and going!

    Congrats!

I'm looking to join the family and get one for myself soon.

Could you post your impression of it after a year? Likes, dislikes, problems, fuel economy?

    Thanks!

StuntmanMike, welcome to the forum. I hope you dont mind me giving you my impression of the Magnum after two years now.

Mike, this car is amazing. Even after two whole years my heart just pumps everytime I see it. Its an amazing rush to drive it. Its unique!

There is so little that I dont like about it but it becomes a querk that you live with. Things like, how quickly the rear window gets so dirty.

Also, if you keep running your brakes hard, the discs will buckle a little, nothing serious but you will eventually notice slight judders as you brake slowly.

Overall, I have to give my Magnum a 10/10 for sheer excitement to drive. I know I am biased but I am sure I will still be in love with this car even after 4 years!

Hope that helps. Hope you join our family soon. But be ready for the mod bug that will hit you hard.

One final point, did I explain that driving becomes a pleasure not a chore? I even make up reasons to get out the house so I can drive it LOL!

    Man I love this car!

    What Matrix said.

I have to agree in that I really can't think of anything that I don't like about it.

Fuel economy I think is great on these. I owned a mag with the 2.6 engine for about a month before I bought my RT and the difference in MPG is minimal.

Go for it..you'll never regret it

    Thanks for the review!

You know, I've been lusting after these cars ever since they brought out the concept car back in '03 or '04. I have two cars right now, both with over 100k. One's a lifted Jeep, the other is my reliable daily driver that's becoming not so reliable as of late. I'm thinking it might be time to pick up something newer and more reliable. Since I refuse to purposely buy boring cars, it was a no-brainer to start thinking Magnum.

I drive about 60miles a day back and forth to work, so I might as well make that drive as exciting as possible. What I really like about the Magnum, besides it's sinister good looks, is that it's a performance car that's actually practical. I also like that it will run on regular gas. The other car I was thinking of (GTO) requires premium, and is nowhere as practical. Since I figure I'll be hanging on to this for quite a while, I should get something that I won't outgrow.

As far as the rotor issue, I'm not surprised, Jeeps have had the same problem. I guess DC likes to use undersize rotors. And ditto with the rear window, I have a 97 Grand Cherokee, and I can't keep the back window clean for more than a day if the weather is bad. But hey, that's what mirrors are for.

I also used to drag race a bit back when I had a LS1 Firebird, so it's a safe bet that this car might see a bit of strip duty too.

Mike - I've had mine ('05 R/T) for a few weeks now and I must say I have not enjoyed a car this much in years. I'm in my 40's and have owned many, many rides. I agree with Matrix that this car is unique, and an absolute BLAST to drive. The hemi has GOBS of hp stock, and with the mods I've added over the last couple weeks it's downright sick! A plus for you - the car is very comfortable, roomy and quiet, almost caddy like and rides like a dream at high speed driving which would make your commute most enjoyable. I know I haven't owned it long, but I do know a quality car.....if we can't convince you just look at the reviews (consumer guide, etc.) this car is rated a 10 by just about all who tested it it!! I too LOVE THIS CAR!!
Welcome and good luck with your search!

A family reunion! Nice family! I have had my Mag 2 years now, and it is the only car I have ever had that I haven't even considered trading in. It has less than 24000 miles on it. I love it for road trips because it nearly drives itself. No real complaints that I can think of. Hope you enjoy yours for years to come.

    Mggie Love

I've owned over 36 cars in the 40 years I've been driving. For the last 10 years or so it's been commuter need.

The Mag R/T is up there with the best of them (68 Road runner, 66 Olds Starfire, 58 Imperial with a 392, 57 Chevy with a Vette 375HP 327, 66 Muskrat with a HI-PO 289-still my all time favorite.)
None got the gas milage or drivability of the Magnum,

And mines a dog, but I'm working on that!

Not only is a Mag a joy to drive, it's a joy to drive fast. Be careful if you get one Stuntman, my little V6 does 115 better than any other car I've driven does 65! Smooth and stable at high speed, almost like it was made for it...

Oh if a LEO asks, just a story on the 115.
