    Warrantee War to begin?

So my 2005 has the 7/70 warrantee and pitted wheels at the center caps. The dealer has indicated that DCX will not cover the wheels. The SM has tried to get another set warranteed (he says) has was told to pound sand.

Then again, I did have to remind him that the wiper stalk and missing sun roof clip should be covered under the 7/70. He said it would be and then mentioned a deductable. I think he is confused, perhaps thinking I had bought an extended warrantee.

On another note, my alignment is (was?) hosed. The camber was out by 5 degrees. After paying $80 at Town Fair Tire for a 4 wheel alignment, they can not get the cambmer in spec as it is adjusted at the engine craddle. (good thing I don't know where that engineer is at) So I paid the dealer $150 to adjust the cradle and realign, but they say it is still not in spec. Though it is closer. I had it aligned as the outside shoulders were getting scrubbed. They say they can get it closer if they install longer craddle bolts, but it is a lengthy operation. Any thougths from my follow LXers?

    Thanks,
    Jax

    Jax,

There are several Technical Service Bulletins related to alignment. The majic words are "The car leads to the right". Search for TSB # 02-003-04. It's been detailed elsewhere on these forums.

Basically, it involves setting up the vehicle to revised alignment specifications derived by a task group at DCX, formed as a result of this common customer complaint. In some cases it is indicated that the cradle must be shifted and/or a new camber/castor adjustment bolt kit be installed if the specifications cannot be met with existing set-up.

All dealer work done in response to a customer complaint that is directly related to a TSB should be re-imbursible through DCX. It pays to review the TSBs prior to going to the dealer for warranty work. They seem to be alot more cooperative once the TSB and the majic words are spoken.

It sucks that has to be true, but it really is. I am in the used car business - I sell alot of late model cars under factory warranty. The service writers / managers will infact walk all over you if you don't know what you are talking about. All data has saved me quite a few times.

You shouldn't have all this trouble. It seems that the "fix willingness" is very variable from dealer to dealer. The dealer I bought the car (05) from took care of the leads right problem and the pitted wheels without the slightest bit of grief. He did have to get approval from the dealer owner before ordering the wheels though. They wouldn't upgrade the CCN software for the temerature display problem, or fix the random wiper sweep. The dealer on the other side of town did these without any fuss. They, on the wheels, said "they all do that" so its not a warranty issue. Fortunately, I haven't had any issues in the past year (knock on wood), so I can keep away from both. With regard to the deductable payment, I have no idea what they are talking about.

there is a 100 deductable on the 7/70. anything after the 3/36 bumper to bumper there is a 100 deductable. also, i would call chrysler and make a formal complaint. request they start a file and contact the dealership. thats what i did when i had multiple engine light illuminations on my 06, and they opened a "case", contacted the service manager and general manager, and sent me a satisfaction survey in the mail. worth a shot.

When I first bought my 05C I noticed a pull to the right and the dealer said they had the part (TSB) and did it immediately for no cost. Although the fix isn't perfect, I can live with it. The 05 C was noted for this pull to the right.

If he is seeing the same problem as I am it looks like the finish is falling off the wheel. There are parts were it looks like someone chipped at it with a screwdriver. Most noticible in the edges around the center cap. I also have several other spots where the finish is flaking away. I would take a picture but my Magnum is tucked away in my parents garage for the winter. I have had the dealer refinish the wheels twice so far, when I pull it out of storage I will be taking another trip to the dealer for a repair. I have tried for a replacement, but they best they have done is hire a guy called "The Wheel Doctor" to fix them up.

the 7/70 powertrain warranty only cover "powertrain" it will not cover wheels or your sunroof problems. if you had perchased a maxcare extended warranty your other concerns would have been taken care of..if you may still be able to buy a maxcare ext warranty through your dealer.

You guys are forgetting that he has an 05 and if he has less then 36k miles..it is bumper to bumper.....maxcare whatever is not an issue until the 36mo/36k miles bumper to bumper is over....

If you have less than 3 years or 36,000 miles then there is no reason to mention the 7/70 warranty. The 7/70 only kicks in only after you are beyond your 3/36. And it only covers the powertrain (all internally lubricated parts).

Same for me on my 05 RT. Most every 05 LX was plagued with this problem - not just 300C's.

As mentioned in a previous post, the issue of the wheels and sunroof fall under the 3 year/36000 miles. What wasn't posted was if he was the original owner. If not, there is a $150 warranty transfer fee that had to be in effect.

I had the same wheel pitting issue and my dealer has replaced two wheels at no charge. I have also had the alignment done, but I still don't have the steering wheel set in a perfect position. I'm going to ask to have it looked at again.

Now someone give me a hand stepping off this soapbox.

I'm always amused when I see the posts about dealer problems. IMO, when you call or walk into the Service Dept. and they don't know you by name, that's your mistake. Spend a little extra and get your oil changes and tire rotations there. Buy your parts there and ask for a discount. (Sometimes up to 25%) If you're doing all the maintenance when you should, you'll be at your dealership at least every two months. And on every third visit, take in a dozen donuts. Then when you have a small or major problem, it's usually resolved easier. Remember, these are people just like the rest of us, but they spend most of their day listening to complaints. After you get service work done, take a minute and call the General Manager and let him know how pleased you were with the work done.

Maybe my dealer is just better than most, but I have never had my car in for service when they didn't wash it. Just this past week, they asked me if I wanted it washed, but I declined. I was pouring down rain at the time.

Rules to live by. I do the same. I get a discount on parts. I know the people, I bring the donuts etc... Things have worked out great.
