    Want brighter rear turn signals?

I was tailing my magnum the other day and was disapointed on how dim the rear turn signals were. My Bonneville would blind people, these just kinda come on.

The Mags are speced with a 3757 from the factory. It also cross referencees to a 3157. Both of these bulbs are rated at 24 MSCP (mean spherical candle power) when on full bright. You may ask of the 3757 and 3157 are rated the same at full bright what is the diff? On paper there does not seem to be one. The outputs and power consumption seem to be the same.

The 3457 comes in at 30 MSCP at full power, thus giving you a brighter bulb. All three are rated at 2.2 MSCP at parking and tail mode.

The 3057 has the same full bright rating of 24 MSCP but the parking/tail filament is only rated at 1.5 MSCP.

I plan to change mine out soon and try to post a shot of the difference.

NOTE: The above specs are for the NA versions of the bulb, also know as Natural Amber, or yellow.

I know what you're waiting for, the lock, well that won't happen if nobody adds to it, it was just too damn tempting.
Seriously though, let's stick to the original thread, this could be good info, even though I don't care much about brighter turn signals, because I like my silverstars, for now, and I may switch to those nice, expensive stealth bulbs in the future.

Try to find 3457 NAK (natural amber, Krypton) a little brighter than just NA bulbs. Those (if i recall right) were the front turnsignals on my ram.

Ok, here's the results of my experiment. I installed the 3457NA (Sylvania) bulb in the passengers side. There difference was very noticeable, especially at 20 paces back from the car. The drivers side just kinda flashed, the passengers side was like %&$@ that is bright.

Click the link below for video. When the video ends, it shows the difference perfectly. Also, you get to see the difference in LED vs Traditional bulbs when flashing.

    http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/Magnum-RT/PB220161.mov

I think they used the lower power bulb as the bulb is exposed and there is no diffuser like on older lenses, thus more intense. This will get the person behind you attention. Don't make the bulbs flush, leave a slight nub for an interference fit.

There is a slight mod to get the bulbs to work. You have to trim both of the tabs down to get them in the socket. This took less than 1min per tab with some sand paper. The bulb will then just snap in.

Also, one last and final thing. These bulbs fit in perfectly in the tail light socket. If you want brighter brake light the clear version of this bulb should work. There will be more heat when the brakes are on, but parking/tail output should be the same thus causing no issues. I did not get any bulb warnings with this.

I had two people comment on the intensity of the new turn bulbs. So Im convinced that they are better.

Sounds good. I'm off to Kragen tomorrow for a pair.

Karfreek, if you want brighter backup bulbs, look for ERF projector bulbs. I think they are 50w and are written up in a few threads here.

For those of us with LED rears, they are bright as crap. And I have the front AAC modded lights with the LED light bar in them, and that will blind you too.
