I just picked up a Borla Stinger System (#140125) & a K&N Typhoon Kit (69-2526TP) for my Magnum RT.
Any advice? I'm going to have my dealer put them in instead of a regular mechanic.
I've done a lot of research on the chips out there and I've come up with the Jet Chip, Hypertech Power Programmers & Super Chips.
4 people advised me to stay away FROM the Jet Chip and said the Hypertech and Super Chips are one in the same.
I called up Hypertech and Superchips and both said they won't have anything for this car until late summer but my parts supplier said he has one specifically for the Hemi 5.7 and told me they are "engine specific".
Is he right? Am I making a mistake ordering it?
Later!
He's wrong. Chips / programmers are computer-specific as well as engine-specific. The only LX-compatable chip / programmer offering at this time is the Jet Chip. This guy is trying to sell you the Hypertech or Superchips chip for the Hemi RAM - it wont work in your Magnum.Originally Posted by DRZES

Me three. I talked to Superchips yesterday and once the guy realized I was talking about a Magnum RT and not a Magnum truck he echoed what was said above. He said if there were enough similarities between the 5.7 Magnum and the 2004 5.7 chips they were working on now, then they would try to shorten the release cycle for the '05 RT chip by making it adaptable to both models.
He also said this was very unlikely as there are typically significant differences despite the engine.
He also said they were nowhere close to even starting on the chip, and they are always looking for test cars (Florida). http://superchips.com.
Folks who have used the jetchips and run them thru the 150 miles they need to pick up their needed inputs seem to all like them. However a superchip/hypertech system would be a programmer. Letting us recalc tire size and the all-important speed governor.
They are also a lot more expensive. You can get a jet chip for like $230, which maybe ain't bad if you just want to do do your best against a Mustang GT at a stoplight.
Thanks guys
My parts supplier confirmed he made a mistake after I told him I called up the manufacturers and they told me it wouldn't be until late spring before they are released.
I guess for now it's the exhaust and air filter.
Later..
