    Swapping a RT fascia onto a SRT8

I'm rather sick of the low ground clearance of my SRT8's front fascia. My car's previous owner tore it off on a parking stop, and now it comes off rather easily.

I've been reading about the RT->SRT8 fascia swaps in various threads (which I can't post links to because I don't have 5 posts...), and I'm wondering if there is anything preventing the opposite swap from occurring? I'm guessing not. I don't suppose anyone has done this swap, but if they have please let me know how it went.

I'm sure you could find somebody local w/ an RT to do a straight-up swap, but first...

Why does yours come off easily now? Did something break, or was it just not put back on right?

    It might not help much...
    The SRT8 sits lower naturally.

I am on my 2nd fascia. I racked up the first one as a learning experience. Now I am WAY more careful.

But there are some places where it just happens no matter how careful you are. It just isn't as bad as those stupid parking bumpers.

Both. When I first got the car nearly nothing was attached very well. The undertray came off and I ran over it (along with most of my front wheel well liners) at about 130 on the highway. Not difficult stuff to replace, just annoying.

I replaced the undertray yesterday and its on there pretty well now. The top and driver's side mounting holes on the fascia are torn, however.

Hmm, maybe I'll swing by a dealership with a RT and measure the difference up front.

4RE328, I'm in Gainesville Florida and my car is silver. I'd be happy to swap parts and/or money, but my front fascia is damaged (both the mounting holes and a crack on the passenger's side where it contacted a root off my driveway). My email is gbeaty@gmail.com.

The ground clearance thing is one of the only things I don't like about the car. It has awesome utility (I tow my Miata race car with it), and is actually relatively well balanced (ok the grip is pretty bad, but its 4300 lbs on 255s). It just needs more fascia clearance, a Quaife, and a beefy oil cooler (it only takes me 3 minutes of lapping to get my oil up to 285F).

I just measured my stock SRT8 and a stock RT:

SRT8 ride height at the rocker panel: 5.75"
    SRT8 minimum fascia height: 5.75"

RT ride height at the rocker panel: 6.5"
    RT minimum fascia height: 7.25"

So a RT fascia will gain you 0.75" of ground clearance.

    Bad news for you.
Because of the brake ducting, you will need a new belly pan plastic, and new wheel well liners too.

    Sucks, I know.

Again, let me know what you'd like to do. I'd need to see pics first (you should have my e-mail address from my e-mail to you), but you live rather close, so an in-person swap would be simple, and if yours is bright silver, then mine would work for you in color without necessarily having to paint. As you mention yours is cracked, I would probably have to repair it and have it painted no matter what the color.

    This is my R/T:

Dude... this is hilarious!!! I wanna see a pic, I love watching Magnums tow... especially other cars. I know its towing a purpose built car, but this is still cool!

Somewhere I have a pic of a 1999(?) Mitsubishi Eclipse towing, believe it or not, a broken down Dodge 1/2 ton. They were clearing a hill between Fort Collins, CO and Laramie, WY. It was quite interesting and I'm amazed the little cars tranny held. I offered help with my Buick, but apparently the lil' Eclipse was getting the job done!!!

Need I begin to list the mods....
