    Speed Limited -- SRT-8 ????

We know our RT's are limited to 128 MPH -- what's up with the SRT-8's? Anybody know?

From what I have read there is not a limit. The 300C SRT8 and the Charger RT SRT8 both will top over 150+. So I would assume that the Magnum would be right there with the others.

If that is the case, and also, Canadian 5.7's aren't limited, it really begs the question -- why, notwithstanding tire ratings, are we U.S.A. 5.7's limited?

    I don't get it.

I'm thinking it may have something to do with insurance. Its just a theory but i'm guessing it has something to do with it.

Perhaps liability as well... law suits are a lot easier to win here than in most other countries.

To be honest I don't understand how in a country where every road has a speed limit its legal to sell a "street legal" car that can go over that limit. NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING!!!! But I've always wondered that, seems that the govt would just say "OK, the max speed limit in the US is 80MPH so every car has to have a 80MPH limit from the factory".

It could be limited before the rev limit for production, would they bother for 8 MPH?

I would assume if that's the case it's probably drag limited. Shape of a brick is not nesessarily the best way to go fast.

    (Waiting "patiently" for the 300C SRT8 8-speed) Coming.....soon?

Its because we have Polar Bears and we have to be able to escape them sir. If the bears were able to eat the local Magnum owners due to speed governors ... well the government would be libel to many lawsuits. Polar Bears are the key.

Look at the FACTORY tire rating on your cars and think for a moment. Chrysler has been limiting the cars to 5mph below the tire ratings for years.

That makes sense -- but why not pick another tire? Seems a loss to have "a tire" determine the governor IF other choices are available.
