    Sirius; Where to mount reciever?

    Hey Folks, Happy New Years!!

Got a Sirius Sportster 4 and would like opinions of where to mount the receiver.. I would rather not stick it to the windshield..Id also rather not block a vent...

Is it easy to use the remote? I was thinking of mounting the unit to the passender side dash with velcro and using the remote....

    Any Ideas/pictures would be appreciated..

I've been waiting for somebody to ask that question. Installed mine and couldn't figure out a good location for it, so i wired everything to the center console, plug it in when i need it and its got a lot of wire to set it in between the cup holder. Sorry no pics yet...

I mounted mine to the right side vent above the radio. I don't know if it will be the permanent location but it is working ok for now. It's on the left side of the directional thumb wheel so it will still blow air to the passenger. I have the Sportster 5, I don't know how that compares in size to yours.

Mine sits in the asy tray at the bottom center stack console... There is lots of clearance for the wires in behind and just clears the AC fan knobs above... I am on the hunt for a 1/8" jack with a 90 degree elbow and I plan on relocating it to the flip down sunglass holder in the overhead console.

    Thanks everyone.

05Magnm; What did you use to mount yours? Also: What are those things in your vents?

Looks like air fresheners in the vents.

    Mount

I have the XM sport caster. Took the suction cups off the wind shield mount and stuck it in the cubby hole in the dash.
Then hid the wires behind the fade plate.

You may remember the gps mount from this thread.

I just used the mounting kit that came with the radio, and yes those are air fresheners.

I mounted mine inside the flip down roof console . ( sun glass holder ) You will need to remove the foam padding to get it to sit down, then I used a small pice of velcro to hold it. Looks way cool and it's out of the way. I still can close the flip down if I want.

Here's where I put mine. It's not ideal but it worked.

Since my old SXT didn't have dash speakers I used one of them for the XM antenna.

I got a adapter that bolts to the passenger seat mounting bolt and holds the receiver. I got it on ebay for $6 its worked great so far, just do a search for Sportster and Mounting and you will see it.
