    Cool Should I buy an 06 Mag instead?

    Hi guys. It's the guy that has so far posted 50 posts, and still doesn't have a Magnum.

    Did a search for my question but I couldn't find anything.

    Would it be wise for me to just buy an '06 RT instead of a '05? Are most of the TSB's (window pops, computer flashes, a/c compressor noise, etc etc) already fixed for 06?

    I'm still saving up and can't get one just yet. I am going to use the chrysler discount that my job offers (not very much but oh well) as soon as I am ready.

    Thaniks =-)

    If you wait much longer there won't be any 05's left. At this point I would go for the 06' unless you get one hell of a deal on a 05', like below invoice by at least $1500. FYI, I have a late build date 05' and the only thing I had to fix was the window pop.

    MM, the 05's have a 7/70, hydrolic hood props, the 06's have better badging, cleaned up wires under the engine cover. Steve is right, might not want to wait too much longer if you are thinking of an 05. From my sig, you know what I have. Good luck, you will love the car, promise, start saving up for Zoomers or something like if you want to hear the power of the Hemi!

    They been building 06 models since late Feb. I'd get an 06 at this point, mainly to get all the improvements like dual spark plug coils and elimination of the plug wires, TSBs and recalls all rolled up into one purchase, etc.

    Good question. What are your goals? Do you want the latest and greatest? Or do you want something that might be technologically less superior, but is also a first edition?

    My decision to go with the 05 was based on my (probably unrealistic) goal of keeping this thing for many many years... even maybe making it a show car 20 years from now. I'm betting this car will become a "classic". As such, I was willing to work with the dealer on the TSBs and give up the slightly more advanced ride.

    Either way, you're in for one hell of a car!

    You must also keep in mind that not 'all' TSB apply to all Magnums. They are specific for the 3 models, but some do crossover. Still, I know of no car manufactured that totally has eliminated TSB's from one year to the next. With every model change there are new challenges.
    Bottom line, get whatever you can get your best deal on. Remember that TSB's are covered under warranty, so whats the difference <shrugs>. Warranty work is warranty work whether its an '05 or an '06

    like dual spark plug coils
    Dunno about the rest of the R/T's out there, but my '05 has dual plug coils...

    If I remember right any Magnum sold after April has the lessor warranty. I dont know if Dodge is still allowing the 05 warranty to be transferred.

    Yeah, I think I will do that then...mainly because I won't have any downtime to take an 05 to the dealer for TSB's... I will never know if the 05 I buy will be perfect or loaded with problems until I actually buy it. I want to be worry free. Thanks for your humble and expert opinion =D

    The warranty has to do with Current MY warranty Outline, IE: all 05's that are not SRT's have 3-36 Basic and 7-70 Powertrain. 06 is just 3-36 with the option to purchase Service contract to get the power train up.

    just remember, that there is no guarantee that the 06 won't have some of the same problems or new ones..
