Are you not planning on having the holes filled in and the whole thing repainted? I can see pulling the wiper arm, but I'm not sure why you'd want to remove the handle if you aren't planning to weld in a plate. That would take an awfully large badge to cover the hole and would kinda defeat the purpose of removing it IMO. If you just want to cover it up until you can get it to a body shop, just put electrical tape over the switch hole to keep water out and pull the handle when you're ready.

I got quotes from $450 (dude in a garage) to $1200 (high end hot rod shop) for a shave and repaint. Decided to go w/ a dude for $650 but then did engine work instead :-P But that's ballpark pricing for you. They'll cut the metal.

Then I wouldn't worry much about covering either hole. Just wait until you're ready to get it painted and do the removal then. Put tape over the open holes for a few days if need be.

While you're at it, I'd suggest pulling the spoiler and Sirius pimple (if you have one) and getting them painted at the same time. It shouldn't cost much more to have them sprayed too.

BTW, check the KB for a great writeup on relocating the switch.

I had mine done at the same time as some other work from an accident, but the shop that did mine (a mostly one man joint) did another one or two for about $400-450 IIRC.

Test it a few times before you shut the hatch, that's for sure! I'd also make sure you have the Ratman mod installed just in case.

    Good advice.

BTW, I take it your wiring job went just fine?

And I'd test it well before you solder/crimp the connections let alone snapping the switch into the new location. If you have any problems, you're not getting that switch back out without removing the bumper cover.

Just remember shaving the hatch is permanent, not like swapping wheels every couple months, LOL. If you have it done spend the money and get it done right! I paid 1900 for my wiper delete, hatch release fill and relocate, wing delete and I'm only about 85% happy with the welding part, paint was great though. theres no turning back Jullian..... no.... turrrrrrnnnning..... baaaaaaack!
