Wasn't aware that Magnums/Chargers ever came with column mounted gearshifts . Was alerted to this one today:

NHTSA Recall Campaign Number: 08V583000
Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT
Details: CHRYSLER IS RECALLING 20,283 MY 2006-2009 CHARGER AND MAGNUM VEHICLES BUILT WITH THE POLICE PACKAGE EQUIPPED WITH COLUMN SHIFTER. THE GEARSHIFT CABLE MAY BECOME DISENGAGED FROM THE STEERING COLUMN MOUNTING BRACKET AND CAUSE AN INCORRECT TRANSMISSION GEARSHIFT POSITION DISPLAY.
Consequence: THIS COULD ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO MOVE INADVERTENTLY AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
Corrective Action: DEALERS WILL ADD A REDUNDANT LOCKING MECHANISM TO THE GEARSHIFT CABLE AT THE MOUNTING BRACKET TO ENSURE PROPER RETENTION AND SHIFT LINKAGE FUNCTION. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 10, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

Hi Jonn, Brampton is loaded with "Police" Chargers, and they are not ALL police cars. Anyone who wants to can order one if their dealer will take the time to look up the option package, I know of one or two U.S. members on here who also have them.

I have one of those police package Magnums with the column shift .I guess I'll be waiting for my Recall notice.

Talked with the stealership today .Car goes in for a retrofit next week .No charge ,should take less than an hour to fix..
