Had the guy come with the Starscan the other night. He enabled my DRLs and the wipers on/lights on feature. I have the auto climate control and installed the automatic headlight switch. Wipers on/lights on are not working. He couldn't test it the other night because it was dark. I guess I'll have to have him try again. But before I do, I'm wondering if it has something to do with the DRL option? I'm thinking maybe since the DRLs are enabled, it might override the wipers on/lights on function?
Anybody have DRLs AND wipers on/lights on, and have them both functioning properly?
I think I read in another thread that on an '06 (mine's an '05) this is an option that is programmable through EVIC. Now that it's enabled, must I go into EVIC and do something?
Any help/guidance appreciated.

Well, I have a question too. My dealer said they couldn't enable wipers on/lights on because I don't have auto lights. I haven't accepted this explaination. Does anyone know for sure? Personally I think they gave me that explaination because they couldn't figure how to do it.
It'd be great to have the actual Starscan menu tree sequence to get to this selection so I could hand it to them.
as I have a Canadian '06 Magnum with DRL - I set the lights to come on wipers in the EVIC and they work just as stated.
Since I live on the We(s)t coast we get lots of rain and i think it is a great safety feature.

"headlamps on with wipers" will only work if headlamp switch is in "auto". if vehicle is not equipped with auto headlamps, this feature will not work.
Well, my headlight switch is always on auto. He said the Starscan asked him if it was equipped with auto lights and he answered yes. I don't know what happened, 'cause when I turn the wipers on the DRLs stay on. Maybe this is an "enable, disable, enable" thing like the DRLs are? I still didn't go into EVIC settings to see if there's an option there now I have to choose. When I thought of it I was driving and it wouldn't let me do it.

DRL = Daytime Running Lights... meaning... if the car is running (day or night, rain or shine) the lights are on... right? If that be the case, wouldn't they already be on when the rain starts and the auto wipers activate? Or are you actually saying that the auto-wiper function isn't working? Or that it doesn't work when the lights are not in auto-mode (does this cancel the DRL?). There must be something here that I'm not getting with respect to the question.
I don't have the DRLs activated, but I do have auto-lights and wipers on/lights on... and both work as expected.
Well, not that it makes any sense but I accept the word of the knowledgeable chkn. Thanks fnky for clearing that up. I guess I'll opt for DRL & my lights will already be on.Originally Posted by fnkychkn

Wait a minute.... I can't have auto lights because I don't have the auto temp (minus light sensor). I can modify my switch to have the auto light position. In that case would lights on/wipers on work?
Interesting question but I'll still opt for DRL. Maybe I could even get a break on insurance....
Hey Fnky, if I did the auto headlamp mod, does that now formally mean my "vehicle is equipped with auto headlamps"? Or do I have to get a starscan to enable it formally? Further, can I get the headlamps to come on with wipers? How do I accomplish that ('05 Magnum)?Originally Posted by fnkychkn
not sure exactly what this auto headlamp mod does to vehicle build configration. from what i have read on this forum, unless your vehicle is equipped with ATC (auto temp control), you will not have auto headlamps. therefore, no headlamps on with wipers.
Thanks Fnky... I have the ATC, and my current auto headlamp mod works fine. However, I have never done any kind of starscan stuff on it for the auto headlamp mod. So I have to take back to stealer, I mean dealer to get a starscan to enable the wiper on headlamp on feature? Or can it be done via EVIC?
EVIC can enable/disable headlamps on with wipers on factory auto headlamps. as for the modded ones, i'm not sure. you'll have to try it and let us know.
... I'll plow through the EVIC menu this weekend and update this thread with whatever progress or lack there of I've made.Originally Posted by fnkychkn

i don't get it???? if the lights are already on, how can they come "on" again?
unless the daytime driving lights are the highbeams at reduced power and you want the lowbeam lights to turn on while the highbeam lights turn off.
DRLs are reduced intensity high beams. if auto headlamps are on, the low beams will come on only if it's dark enough. if "headlamps on with wipers" are enabled, and you turn the wipers on while the headlamp switch is in "auto" setting, the DRLs will go off and the low beams will come on. a little confusing, i know. i hope i'm making sense here. :?
