i just looked at an 08 r/t awd its a smithhavencdj.com everyoption but the roof rack
even has the mopar hidden hitch not sure if its wired or not but the kicker is they are asking 25300 if i recall correctly ill check the post it i jotted down their asking price.. in my office tomarrow
but nada pice less road and track package (there are no srt type seats so no road and track pkg) and no theft recovery that i know of so the retail price is
nada -----23800
kbb ---- 23,950 (and who pays retail!!)
so the car has every option less roof rackm has trailer tow prep, protection etc
26,325mi i used 26,400 miles due to test drives etc i was told that they payed about retail book value at auction and i really cant believe that. anyone go to auctions or have any incite on this??
even an 06 less the dvd and roo rack 18k asking price is 21999 i just dont get it at all are dealers pulling prices out of there asses??
i had a guy on ebay beautiful 06 silver rt awd misssing just roof rack, rear ves he owed 22,500 and wanted that the poor guy isnt gonna get it .hell i payed 25k for my 06 msrt last april with 3600mi 100k exteneded mopar warntee and back up sensors and and options I,II,III where am i missing things here r/t awd/s arnt that rare 08's ok but really any ideas![]()
and that was before the market tanked!!!
The cash for clunkers has a run on used cars right now. Due to the fact all the trades for the program can not be resold.
this was bought at auction for book value and im quite skeptical about that .. and the cfc program alot of good cars trucks killed for no good reason
seems like a bit of $$$ to me. I would think $18k-$20k for an 08 would be a little more in synche.
Look around on Cars.com or Autotrader.com and print out some similars (ie; year, make model, features, etc.) circle the ones that are similar and show them and when they refuse to come down leave all the printouts on their desk w/ your phone number and price on it and just leave. They call you back to renegotiate. That's how I did it with mine last year...I managed to get them down $3k from asking and they provided a 2yr extended warranty.
I've tried that tactic a few times now...it's worked for me on my last 3 vehicles. You gotta love the internet...resources everywhere.

Before I got my Silver '05 R/T (with 22s and the stock set) with less than 26k miles for $12,400, I had a dealer at $11,400 on an Inferno '05 R/T (with chrome 20s) with 55k miles that they were asking $14,9xx for (that was purchased by someone else within minutes of my negotiating [in the end I'm glad I didn't get it and found mine in a preferred color with less miles]). So there is definitely room to negotiate on these.
im at the auctions every week (manhiem).....you can buy a clean srt8 between 1000-2000 back of kelly blue book at a wholesale level.....anyday of the week

this guy is in ny, not sure how auctions differ from east to west coast value wise but, i cant believe the awd's go for more at auction then a srt .. awd's they arnt that rare, but he payed basicly book value at auction.. i just think hes trying get a boat load of $$ off of the car. they are asking 26,399 but said ill give it to you for 25,300 (WELL GOLLY GEE THANKS!!) and no fees, well he can find some other shmuck to pay that money lol i dont need a second magnum that bad
That SmithHaven dealer marks the living $hit out of their prices. No one else for the same vehicle will charge as much. They are always several THOUSAND more every single time i viewed their inventory in the last year at least. Yes they do get desirable cars (to us) that are rare in New England BUT, there is no reason to ever pay what they are asking. I drove down to VA to buy an exact car they had listed for 27k with same options and mileage and got it for 22k from a larger Dodge Dealer with extended warranty. The problem is that people in the area of that dealer have and continue to pay their mark up so they will continue to charge those prices and not get our business.

that is what i dont understand?? is it just a select few people who check book values before purchasing a car or checking the insurance rate before you purchas the car so you have an idea of the nut for both.. do the majority of car shoppers just go in that blind with no questions yea ill pay whae ever. i called them on it even the blue srt i said yoru wayy over book but they had sold it i bust every dealers balls when they have the balls to ask more then book value its just nuts
I think more people do this than I'd have ever thought based on my recent experiences at the dealerships looking for my Magnum. And I know based on polling my friends that I'm one of the few in my social circle who got a quote on insurance before buying a car - unlike some whose insurance was about twice as high as they were budgeting for...
i really don't understand people in this day and age. We have EVERYTHING we could ever want to know or learn at the tip of our fingers every day with the internet. There is nothing you can't find out quickly or do basic research on. People think it's too much work or they won't understand and would rather have a freakin salesman explain things to them. Last i checked, a price tag of an identical product isn't hard to understand or like tekknoschtev mentioned, how bout a phone call to the insurance company first. I guess intelligence and preparation are in the minority these days. I just wish i could find a list of these people so i can goto their houses and sell them off the shelf products for 2x what i paid since my versions are "special".
i toally agree every awd magnum i have granted im lookign for a low millage one looked at is above retail value its just nuts and thats priced with every option and thes are missing somthing just fing crazy i may never get an awd magnum
In fact, most buyers going to the dealerships haven't researched anything, nor have any idea what kind of vehicle they have interest in purchasing. Some people even think they got a great deal paying full price on a used vehicle marked up $8,000.
I had been a car salesman, and was surprised about these factors myself at first.
Though unfortunately, many potential buyers have credit problems, and this has a great deal to do with the lack of planning--these people often can't get a car at all, and are hoping that they can get into any reliable vehicle.

you mentiond credit and that rang a bell when i was talking with s.h. cdj they said if you finance with us we can get you a better price .. i said ok you have to do better the 4.25 i can get from AAA i have excellent credit so you have to come way down on price and beat the above and seemd a little shocked when i stuck that in their faces!! seemd a little bummed reallly i thought that was odd at the time! but i guess i know why now! remember the show with tobin dodge that is the typical thing people just going in blind only a few bust balls but still most have no clue what the cars are worth,.i really wish I could go to to an auction and see what our cars are going for ,i just cant believe these guys are paying kbb retail for these things, and i guess the 4-520 credit score people are what drive the industry but i cant believe that or shold i lol
