    Newest Hit and Run

Vehicles I've owned over the years have become magnets for hit and runs. I feel I've honestly developed a 6th sense for when i'm going to get hit now. I pull into a parking spot and instantly know the guy next to me is going to injure my baby. It started Christmas time of '01 I'd say. My step dad and I parked in the ONLY spot we could find (I had my 1999 Cougar at the time). We got out and i got pissed. He asked my why I was mad and I told him b'c that a$$hole is going to ding my door.

    I was right.

Jump forward several years and we're in the Magnum. Park at the only spot I can find in the mall get out and look at the silver truck behind me. I know instantly that he's going to drift back into my wagon. I don't trust myself and don't want to be that guy so I let it go. We get back to my car and f'en A if i don't have a 2x8 scrape on my hatch.

    This leads me to today:

I park my car in the spot I ALWAYS park in. Against the curb, no more than 2 inches off it. That leaves room for the guy next to me to swing his door open as hard as he can and not be able to reach me 95% of the time. Well today there was a little black P/T cruiser parked in the spot next to this safest of spots. I get out and get pissed b'c I know this guy is going to hit me. Yet again I don't listen to myself even though I hear my gut telling me to camera phone his plates.

Hour passes I come back out and there's this silver dollar sized black spot where he rubbed my front bumper.

Lucky me I've recently started dating a girl who works at a body shop for Carmax and she said she could buff it right out. so we'll see.

This solidifies my decision to no longer let stupidity i witness pass. I've since flipped out on a security gaurd who allowed a shouting match between two mall patrons to escalate to a point where families and small children were subjected to vulgar language that the MPAA would have yelled at Tarentino for. This is whatever, however when the situation finally ended the one in the car who had been yelling at his gf left he nearly ran over a group of small children.

I would have intervened in the shouting but it ended b4 i got there so the only person i had was the gaurd who told me in broken English "I did not see it." I reported it to his supervisor and will follow up today.

I call on my fellow LXers, men, women, children, space monkey's for all I care. If a situation developes where you can lend a hand and end some kind of stupidity I beg you to intervene. **insert annoyed screaming angry face here**

I'd like to tack on a further request: Anyone notice how stupid *some* of the cops are? Do they ever fly by you doing 20+ over the speed limit without their lights flashing? Seen them run red lights without their lights flashing? Basically... Seen them do anything that would get you a shiny brand new ticket? If so, call Police Dispatch and ask who you can leave a message with the file a complaint. With the car number, time of day, and intersection you should be able to let their boss know how they are behaving with the publik. To me, this is another form of stupidity that should be stopped. I know there are some cops on this forum and I mean no disrespect to them...I have no idea how they drive. I know many of the cops in my area pull stunts that would get fined if they were a civilian. All I ask is that they use that light block on the top and/or siren to warn the publik (tater salad style) that they are coming.

    Stop.
    Think.

You are not aware of what has come over the officer's radio!!

I'm not defending any wrong doing by any police officer but, could it have been possible that the police officer was running on an assignment, oh lets say like a robbery in progress, where if his red lights and siren were on would have aided the escape of the perp once he was close enough to be heard or seen?

Bet if it was your face with a 9mm stuffed in it you would want the guy caught, wouldn't you?

Just don't be so quick to judge a situation without KNOWING what's really going on.

    Thank You! Well said.

I noticed that the word *some* was inserted. Thats OK. You might be right. "Some" people speed all the time. Do they get caught. "Sometimes".

I was just amazed how quickly this post turned into a possible cop bashing thread. If you have a problem or questions about police work, bring it up in a civilized manner. Start a post in the Gas Can. I'll answer whatever questions you have and try to explain things as best as I can.
    PEACE OUT YO!!!

yeah rev. instincts kick ass...they'd win me lots of money if i listened to them when i gamble lol. I think you're totally right and i really need to start listening to them. like wheelife said, who else can you trust?

i've had a cop zoom past me a few times, one time i was in a mood so i started following him and called his super. apparently the cop was on their way to a domestic disturbance, so i understand not using lights but i followed him for miles part of it down a ritchie highway type road through lights. I think the light bar should have been lit until they got off the main drag. but that's mho. if i were a battered wife i wouldn't want my hubby knowing the 5~o were coming until they were there.

Well, KungFool I totally agree with having the instinct when it comes to parking. I won't park anymore if I have to park close...I go somewhere else and my GF thinks I'm nuts.

I lend a hand wherever needed. I don't let stupidity go unchecked anymore. I used to let people walk all over me. One day I snapped and said "enough!"

Now I don't take crap from anyone and life has never been better.

Take buying a new car for example. I'll argue with my salesman till Hell Freezes over if I don't like even one aspect of the deal. For the past several days I've gotten calls from the Sales Manager trying to get me to purchase the car because me and my GF left. A few years ago...I'd take a bad deal to get the car I want.

Now, I get what I want and I don't settle.

I love being free of "fear".

Good for you KungFool. Take pictures next time. Follow your instinct!
