need help with my rk hood

Ordered an Rk hood. Body shop called. It won't close without hitting the core support. All adjustments were done, still won't close.

Has a low spot like it is warped on the driver's side.

Should I have them send another one out or just call it a day with Rksport?

Those that have them. Did you have any similar experiences where you had to return the hood and have them send another. If so did the replacenet work?

Okay..Rk just called and told me the core support is adjustable. Body shop is trying that now. Hopefully the other minor fit issues will fall into place.

Still would like any feedback from you rk guys.

We just put one on a Charger and we had to adjust the hood latch lower to get it to line up.

I think if the front ends of these cars were all a little more uniform then aftermarket hoods would fit ALOT better right out of the box. Has anybody ever walked around the dealership lot and really looked at all the front ends on the Magnums. All of the gaps and clearances are different on all of them. The front ends of these cars are so flimsy in terms of sheet metal and the actual nose piece itself that it is no wonder what fits good on one car right out of the box doesn't even come close on another one. I'm not trying to stick up for any of the aftermarket mfgs here but I think they are doing the best with what they have to work with.

I see it in my shop all the time. Almost all cars now have no sheet metal in the front. There all assembled by snap in plastic clips that only hold the parts on. Pretty much no adjustment. Ive had some cars that no matter what, i end up putting a few sheet metal screws in to keep things lined up. Worse I run into was a late Trans Am. Nothing lined up 'right' and nothing you could do about it. If I remember, even the core support on LX cars isnt metal, just a metal case around a hunk of formed plastic. Im not standing up for aftermarket either, Ive seldom seen any that didnt need substantial body work or modifying to fit. I put one on a car myself that I had to put a layer of filler on 90% of the hood and hand block it to get it even close to being straight.

I had to use 1/8 inch washers to space the fascia a hair on the drivers side to line up the hood.
