Angry My Magnum Is A Lemon

I am currently going through the process of labeling my mag. I have contacted a lemon law lawyer to do this and wondered if anyone else has
gone through with this. I have at least four items that have not been fixed on four different visits to the dealer.

Have you tried a different dealer? Not all mechanics are created equal. What are your problems? Maybe the brainiacs around here can help out a little.

    1. I have a clunking noise in the right front. They replaced the caliper bracket, the outer tie rod, the inner tie rod with the steering rack assembly.
    2. The left rear window will and will not work at times. Could not find the problem.
    3. The sunroof has trouble closing. They replaced the front bracket, the side panels, and a software update for the safety feature.
    4. The transmission shifts hard. They updated the software, replaced the rear seal found to be leaking, but the problem happens now and again, not consistent. This happens during normal acceleration, not wide open.
    5. The middle seat belt siezed.
    6. The radio had to be replaced after the left speaker stopped working.
    7. Did I mention that my mag pulled to the right, and all four tires had to
be replaced with only 18,000 miles on them? REAL NICE.

The first four have been worked on four times and I am sick of this.
I went to www.lemonlaw.com and got their help.
The love is gone and I can't wait for the mag to follow.

Sounds like your dealer is the lemon!

Hope you get this sorted out soon. I would take it to a different service centre.

Cant say I blame you... ANd frankly... if the love is lost, its lost... try to work with the dealer.. I have seen people who go all the way to just about lemon it, just to have the dealer take it back with no money lost... just to prevent the lemon from being declared.

    Good luck. Sorry to hear...

If you have any semblence of love... any chance of a sparkle... take it to another dealer.... but if all love is lost... its lost

Too bad, I would say that it is the exception and not the rule with these cars. I do remember that at least one other member here or on the charger forums did the lemon law. I am not sure about the option of dealer buy back, I find it hard to believe that a dealer would just buy back something that is so messed up, since they get stuck with it. I wonder if dcx has a program for buybacks?

Out of curiosity did you contact dcx about these problems and have you tried more than one dealer? Also have you posted here on these items, there are many great answers to be found here.

Nothing is worse than riding around in a car that puts a pit in your stomach.

I hope you get a deal of a life time on your next ride.

    all the best,

Are you saying that they looked at 1 though 4 (four times each)? The way I understand the lemon law to read is that it has to be the same problem and you must give the dealer three attempts to fix it. Regardless, it sounds like you may have gotten the runt of the litter.

But it is a very cool loooking lemon, which is why I still have mine. But your problems would test even my high tolerance.

The left rear window is a known issue, the problem is with the motor. I have seen lots of folks with this same problem, and it is ALWAYS the left rear window.

Sounds like a dealer problem especially their service department.

18k miles on Crapinental tires is all you can expect. I got 20k and they were completely worn out. I got Discount Tire to get the warranty rebate from Crapinental and DT let me apply that hefty rebate towards MUCH better, other brand (BFG KDWS) tires.

Tranny, Pulling, and Shifting are all service problems that should be fairly easy to fix and figure out if the techs knew what they were doing.

Seat belts should be fairly simple to replace, never heard of this problem before.

Electronics: Sometimes they are bad. Sometimes they go bad. Should be another simple replacement.

Rear Window: The regulator and/or motor needs to be replaced. Fairly common. I had one go bad and it would refuse to go up and down.

Be sure to close the door "hard" (not super hard...just a little harder than minimum) and see if the window goes up and down... if it does then it is likely the brushes that got corroded... drive the window up and down a little more often if that is the case. If the problem persists even after closing the door a little hard then the motor/assembly needs to be replaced. Mine was the driver's side rear window.
Did the radiator cap mod: SRT8 is here....

Bulldog, this is my 1st post, but my 1st (magnesium)Magnum #491 off the assembly line was bought back by Dodge. It took me 9 months & 20,000 miles. I didn't use a lawyer. my dealer is the best. (Schultz Motors Milan Mi.) They worked with me. I bought the car used with 941 miles on it. We found paperwork in the car the Roush Industries left, we concluded that they took the whole car apart & reassembled. Dodge payed back everything but $700.00. I now have a Red 05 magnum and love it

My 05 mag sxt was bought back. Took about a year to get it done but all I lost was about 500 dollars for 22,000 miles and the money to upgrade to a 06 rt. Stay on them. I called pretty much every week. Everyone at the dealership knows me and its not on bad terms either.
Hope you can get it worked out.
