    MSRT vs RT autostick

Let me post this again over here to see if anyone knows.

My RT would sequentially shift up and down with the gear shift. My new MSRT shifts down to what it apparently thinks is appropriate for the roadspeed. D to 3, 4 to 2, etc.
If I keep my foot on the gas, it does go to the next lower gear. Wassup with this? Normal?

    Thanks

I think this is normal... at least since the '06 MY. Was your RT an '05... I think it worked a little different in those models. Generally, going from D, the tranny will shift to whichever lower gear is appropriate (per PCM) for the degree of pedal and overall speed the vehicle is going.

For example... from D to 2 if you're just starting out and in the local neighborhood, or making a 90 degree turn at a corner. You have to push left again to get it to go to 1 (if that's what you want).

Go a little faster, say you're already at 25 mph, and D will go to 3. Even faster..., say 45+ and D will step down to 4.

If you're already in autostick at 4 and 45 mph, pushing left will kick you down to 3. If you mash on it in 4 from 45 mph... I'm not sure, but it probably will downshift to 3 (maybe even 2)... and then hold the lower gear to red-line where it will upshift (paddle kick mode).
Still in love with my first wife, and first car ('68 Charger)... Still have the wife!
