    Magnum VS 454 Studebaker

So last Friday on my lunch break I pull up next to a 1952 or so Studebaker at the stop light with an older couple in it. I can see the big rear tires and hear the cam and stuff in this thing, it's vibrating my car and I'm thinking "Oh crap, that thing's gotta be quick".

Anyway, I didn't want to look like a jackass and floor it from the light just to have him take off real slow, so when the light turns green, he nails it so by the time I reacted he'd already pulled ahead of me and I couldn't catch up so I just let off.

I'm thinking he's probably telling his wife "See, those Hemis aren't ****". Well at the next light I pull up on their passenger side and ask the lady passenger what it had in it. She says "A 454", so I say that's a nice car. So anyway this time I'm ready for him and when the light turned green I floored it and shot out of the hole quicker than he did and he never got past my front door. I think I would have pulled on him more if we had gone longer, but there were cars a ways in front of us so I just let off.

It wasn't this car, but it was similar.

Not bad for a bone stock Magnum R/T against an extremely built 454 in a lighter Studebaker.

    Magnum R/T for the kill!

Chances are you wouldn't see a Stude like that even with a full exhaust...those Mickeys wouldn't fly with Occifer Fwendly

No, the car didn't have slicks. The rear tires were pretty wide, but not slicks. It's the closest picture I could find, since most people probably wouldn't know what sort of Studebaker it was. If it did have a full exhaust, it was extremely loud. I couldn't even hear my car over it even though the suitecase has been removed.

Yeah it looks like you can drive that car both ways. Nice kill you took a dump on his hood and took off.

I didn't use the autostick, turn off the ESP or anything, just left it in drive and floored it. If I had really taken time to get a better launch, I would have taken it even easier I'm sure.

I've only had the car just over a week, I haven't had time to get a launch technique down yet.

Great kill. A good running RT will surprise some of these street rod types, even those with lumps cams and extra loud exhaust. Moreover, one would be hard pressed to take their car on a long trip with the family on board like we can with the RT. Good job!

Nice kill! The only thing I've gotten a chance to snack on since I boght my car (I've had it two weeks) was some yuppy in a new Acura TL.

The Mustangs and the Camaros won't race me...can't imagine why. I even had some douche in a 350z rev his engine at me while we were stopped a light, and then back down after I returned the favor. Maybe the Hemi's bark scared him?

I love old Studes and they were quite fast with the supercharged 289's. Maine State Police used them back in the 50's for patrol cars cause they were fast. Good kill
