Anyone know how much longer the dealers will be allowed to order 2008 Magnums?

My dealer called me a couple of hours ago and told me that November 20 is the last day for orders. He told me to come in tomorrow if I want that '08 SRT8. He said it would take 10-12 weeks for delivery. He also said he couldn't even guarantee that current orders will be filled. I am going in tomorrow to get my '05 appraised on a trade. If the numbers come out right, I will pre-trade the vehicle before the special order SRT8 is built. I don't really need it as my daily driver. I don't know though, this may just be a tactic by dealers to push sales at this time. He is only offering to come down a thousand or so from built MSRP! I'm suspicious but not worried. It is written, "Be anxious for nothing, but everything by prayer and supplication..."

Nov. 20 makes sense, since that's the day they'll be increasing incentives. The idea of the incentives is to move leftover inventory. Puts you in a tough spot though...wait for the incentives and not get the car you want, or get the one you want and damn the torpedos!

A fleet manager I trust says he hasn't seen the fax... but then again trust is a relative thing.

Update: Just got back from the local dealership. They called for an official answer on the last day, they were told it's the 20th. Also, they said that only 50 more are allocated. So it could be sooner if there are that many orders.

So is the 20th the cutoff just for the SRT and no date yet for the rest of the models. As of 2 days ago a friend who works for Chrysler, not a dealer, said they have not yet decided on a cutoff or when production will cease.

Just to add to the fun...

My dealer had talked to their Dodge rep, and says Magnum production will stop in February, but it could be sooner depending on demand. Of course, that doesn't mean that orders won't close sooner.

Well you know they have to hurry up and stop making Magnums so they can tool up production for that sexy new Dodge Journey .... *cough *cough .....

i met with a dealer last nite about ordering the msrt, he told me if i wanted it, the latest to place the order would be early next week, but should do it as soon as possible. was going to go back today and place deposit and order, but the wife says no not now. she doesn't seem to understand they will be gone. oh well, gotta keep her happy.

My dealer placed an order for me on 11/21. I believe the order was "accepted" because I got a VON...and now it is in BG status. However, I believe it is possible that allocation issues could still cancel the order, but I'm not sure.

Anyone else have a similar experience?
