    How long is to long?

How long is to long to let your car set without starting her??

I’ve been blessed to get a company car and free gas. I drive that car all week and don’t touch Maggie for up to 5-6 days. Wondering if it’s not that good to not run her. I have Royal Purple and figured the car should be fine but does anyone suggest any different? Should I start her every day for a sec to let that oil get around the engine?

    Thanks for anyone’s input.

sitting 5-6 days at a time is no problem at all.

If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?

If you are starting the car every weekend and let it warm up to normal temp for an hour or two at least once, you will have no problem with the engine. I would recomend you use a synthetic oil as it does not completely drain off parts for extended periods, I think the test I saw showed 10 to 12 days for Mobil 1. Amsoil was tested also, but don't remember the number of days. Seems it was close to the same as Mobil 1, but this was a test done in the '70's and I have the info out in the garage somewhere.

You also might want to buy a good quality battery tender to keep the battery topped up. I use this model myself.

    Cool

Not that it matters but my 30 years of Chrysler auto repair experience agrees with MagnumSXT, 5-6 days is nothing to worry about.

Don't worry about a week or two. the only thing I would really worry about is the fuel you have in the tank. If you let it sit for a month or more then you might see performance problems.

Yeah that was what I was gonna say. Get some Sta-bil gasoline additive if that tank of fuel is going to be in there longer than 3 weeks to prevent gell and varnish

    And the dead shall walk

You know this is a great question because I have been wondering it as well...

My problem is that I will have to let my Mag sit for 3 months while I finish my deployment in Iraq. I have located a heated garage to store her, but wondered how bad it will be to let her sit for 3 months?

I won't be able to start her, so I planned on using sta-bil in the fuel and disconnecting the battery...

Does anyone have any more tips for longer term storage?

    Thanks!

If you are sure you are only going to be gone for 3 months use the Sta-bil in the gas, leave the battery connected and hook up to a battery tender like I use (click here) and you will not have a problem. The engine with a good synthetic oil should not even need anything special done even with storage being a year long. Besure to run the engine a while with the sta-bil in the tank so as to get the sta-bil in all fuel lines & injectors.

For longer then 6 months I would also recommend getting tires off the ground and for year or more draining fuel system should be considered.
