Giving my SRT some much needed R&R

I just ticked over 96k miles and the front end of my baby has been showing some major wear an tear. paint chips that occur at supposed speeds over 170mph tend to be rather deep and i've had small rocks actually partially dent metal at that those speeds. Paint has crazy chipping on the right fenders and i was on the verge of having some rust start to kick in on me. It was time to head it all off. Bumper had the normal nightmare life since it was born and i got a new one to replace it (keeping old one for the track). I am saving the roof for another day once i have recovered from this hit. I'll replace the windshield at that point as well since it is embedded with sand from high speed runs.

My car has been great to me for the last 3 years and it was time to give a lil back. i dropped it off after the recent track day and stopped by Monday and Tuesday for some pictures. Monday, i only had my camera phone so the quality is poop.

thumbnails are still broken so sorry about blown up ugly pictures...

and some decent shots now from my lil camera:

took me a while to get the gumption to suck up the bill for it to be done right. Realized that if I want to enjoy the car for the rest of my life, that I had better stay on top of it and keep the rust at bay. From here on out, I'll try and keep the jobs small so I don't have to eat a big job like this next time.

Holy crap Mike! That's some serious work right there. I just try to keep up with the paint chips and light scratches with a little touch up paint dabber here & there along with regular waxing & clay, but that right there is almost a complete resto! Good for you! I'd love to do that to mine, especially the front bumper cover and the lower rockers, they need it.

I'd be afraid to drive it after work like that. Do you drive it in the winter?

After work like that it should definetly be stored in winter .

There's not many of those MSRT's out on the road to begin with. Way to go; keeping a beautiful LX on the road and looking sharp!

winter and poor weather driving are optional at this point. I have another car now for a daily driver and the Magnum is kept in doors when not in use. I still have a ways to go after this, but this is my first big step in restoration.

    It is looking new again.

And you have stock wheels, you should get them to paint the SRT indent matching red.

thought about that. wheels are next on the cleanup list. I have gone back and forth on that accent. it's certainly not the cost since it is such little work, but i really like a stock exterior look.
