    Question ESP/BAS light.

I got my Magnum back from the dealership today. The time on the clock was wrong so I figured they must have disconnected the battery at some point.

I drove away and got a ding with the ESP/BAS light coming on. When I got to my first stop I checked for engine codes and found nothing. Just a ------.

On my way home I remembered the battery reconnect procedure. Once I was home I followed the procedure in the KB for battery reconnect. I then went on a short drive through my neighborhood. No ding and no ESP/BAS light.

Question: Is this typical of a battery reconnect w/out following the reconnect ESP/BAS calibration procedure? You get a bell plus the ESP/BAS light comes on?

    Thanks.

the only ESP/BAS recalibration required is to turn steering wheel lock to lock a couple of times. this indicator lamp will come on whenever the ABS module loses track of the steering wheel position. the "bing" you hear is just the cluster alerting you of the lamp being on. the warning chime is the cluster's way of saying "look at me".
Izzy pics money talks. unfortunately, mine usually says... "good bye!"

That's what I did and it seems to have worked. No more ESP/BAS light. I just wanted to verify that this is what you get if you don't turn the steering wheel lock to lock after a battery disconnect/reconnect. I'm sure the dealership just overlooked this. No big deal. Of course if I didn't have the benefit of this site I would have been pretty upset to get warning lights right after leaving the dealership's service department. I feel for you techs.
