    Engine oil warning light

I have a 2005 magnum RT hemi. Yesterday with the outside temperature at 104, my oil pressure light came on at a stop light. As I excellerated the light went off. When I came to a stop it came on again. I stopped at a Jiffy Lube and had them check the oil level. It was full. I am running synthetic oil. What the heck is going on?

I'm not extremly sure.. However sounds like the oil pump is going out.. You can hold the Compass/Temp button and the button w/ the music symbol at the same time (with key in turned to acc or vehicle running) Hold them for like 20sec and you will get a new menu scroll thru till you find your Oil pressure...

Someone else is sure to chime in

Someone else had same, his timing tensioner had broke and was pressing on relief spring on oil pump causing loss of pressure. Might also be sending unit is failing. Either way, I wouldn't press my luck with that-get checked out asap and do not drive if at all possible.

Well there's your problem right there.

I would check the sending unit first. I had an Intrepid doing the exact same thing and it was just a sending unit switch went bad. Cost me about $52. Turned out they had a problem on the switches where the seal on the sending unit would go bad and oil would get into the switch and cause it to go bad and start making the oil light come on. Yeah, I know different car and all that. But if your oil pump was going bad, you would see your engine temperature going up quite a bit from normal.

And yeah, seriously, I wouldn't go to Jiffy Lube. Just been too many horror stories about them over the years.

I'd get it to a real dealership as opposed to a "stealership". They will be able to diagnose it. It's probably a sensor, but you need to get her in asap. Oil pump is cheap, but they rarely fail.
