    Engine light?

I have an 05 Magnum RT AWD that has had a constant engine light issue for the past year or so. I have had it to the dealer at least 7 or 8 times and it continues to come on. I have had the O2 sensors, O2 harness, and one other thing replaced but still no luck. The only mods I have are an intake and I cut the suitcase out and replaced it w/ flowmasters. Any thoughts?

You really need to tell us what the trouble codes are for us to be of help.

I have it into the dealer again. They called and told me they can't figure out the problem. They have contacted Dodge and they are currently calling around the country to see if anyone else has had the same issues and what the fix is. Apparently the O2 sensors are "lazy." I am actually considering a Lemon Law claim. This has been a continuous issue and it is getting old.

One thing that keeps popping up in my head is the intake. When we pulled the sensor the goes into the intake off my brother broke the piece of plastic that locks the sensor in place. He added a bit of superglue on it and put it onto the intake. The problem didn't start after that but could this be the culprit?

Forgive my non-technical jargon I am mechanically retarded.

Turn the key to 'ACC' then to 'ON' position and repeat 3x leaving the key in the 'On' position after the 3rd time. In the center of your dash (where the mileage is), a code should appear and eventually the word '-done' will appear. List the code(s) and someone should be able to help.

That superglue may be setting off a code within the sensor. For sure, the first thing I'd do is replace the sensor.

Well I finally got the wagon back. Turned out the CPU was "lazy" (their words not mine) so they replaced it. Things seem to be working better now.

Hmmm, I also have an '05 Magnum RT AWD which set off O2 related codes when I first got it.
I'm not buying the lazy sensor theory. That's just one of the reasons we have 4 O2 sensors (the other being ongoing trim adjustments and cat performance monitoring).
The original connectors were of a poor design and if they did not have silicone grease smeared inside, they would allow water ingress. Mine were so bad that water actuall ran out of the harness when the sensors were popped off.
Blew it out with an air gun, added the grease, and no more problems!!!

The dealer had already replaced all the O2 sensors and harnesses and the problem continued. I love this car but I am a bit nervous about how many poorly designed components there seem to be on these cars.

I'm not sure I'd go with 'poorly designed', remember - these things are all designed and built by 'man', and as such, will fail at some point.

The sheer number of folks registered here who either have or want or have had an LX variant combined with the small number of real problems that have shown up tells me that this is a quality product.

It's a bummer that you have had a negative experience with yours, and hopefully, after throwing enough parts at it, your issues will go away. You don't usually see O2 stuff until AFTER the long tube headers go on..

One example I have - how many SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) failures have we seen? Couple-3-4? I had one exhibit some odd symptoms taking my entire steering column offline, but having been working in the computer biz like since it started, I realized that sh!t happens, and that one happened to me.

Poorly designed? I'm not of that opinion, I think they did damn good on the LX..

If they didn't pack the connectors with silicone grease when they installed the new harness, the problem may appear.
