In canada, we call it reality this time of year! One trip out will get you that dirty.Looks like they sanded as well as salted !
Around here it's salt and cinders... get really black and mucky lookin'. Forecast is for 3-6 in. by this time tomorrow. Hope it comes true. I'm ready for snow and what to "sperimet" with my RWD "C" to learn her attitudes, etc.
NASTY! Im sure glad Oregon doesnt use salt.. they only use sand, and de-icer.
Not that we get any snow.. mostly rain.

Around here they use pebbles and salt. I don't think they know what SAND is. In Fayettville, AR they spray salt water on the roads the night before a storm. It seems to help.
The Magnum has a soul. It has a personality, something all too lacking in the automotive transportation appliances everybody else is offering.

The only de-icer I know of is Calcium Chloride (CaCl2). It is not technically a salt, although some people refer to it as one or it is sometimes mixed with salt. It will corrode steel by itself however.Originally Posted by GoofyTimL
