Well, we've had an SLP Loudmouth II exhaust on our MagRT for about 2 years. We LOVE the sound. I lined the trunk bottom sheetmetal (under the interior trim and spare) with peel-n-stick duct insulation from Home Depot and it helped a little. Made it liveable, but you could still definitely tell it had an aftermarket exhaust on it.
Well, we were in Home Depot the other day and they have "patch rolls" of fiberglass insulation, about 2' wide x 4.5' long, and about 2" thick. Hm. Got a couple rolls and figured I'd give it a shot.
Pulled the lower tailgate interior panel off (2 screws at the 'pulldown' handle, and pop-pins the rest of the way around), unplugged the light, set it on the trunk floor so I didn't scratch it, unrolled one of the rolls of insulation and put it on top. Perfect fit, couple inches off each end and it's just right.
Pushed it down around the pop-pins, cut a hole for the wiring for the light, and re-installed everything.
Wow.
For five minutes' work, it makes a huge difference. You can still hear it when you're on the throttle (the good stuff), but the drone and the MDS lawnmower sound are waaay muted now. uConnect is useful again!
Anyway, just thought I'd share my $5 / 5 minute upgrade. I finally got one right, LOL.
