    Question Diagnostic Mode

Went into diagnostic mode, this was one display that came up.

    Last Chime req
    airbag
    VMM 319

Can anyone tell me what it means, should I be concerned with it. Talked with a mechanic at a 5 star dealership that works on Magnums and he didn't even know that you could put it into the diagnostic mode...I wasn't impressed with his answer. Any help would be highly appreciated!!

    Thanks Mark

    This should be helpful...

    EVIC Diagnostic Data

Nothing to worry about... Just indicates that the last alert to extinguish was the airbag light... and that you have version 319 of the VMM.

Anything serious would throw a CEL.

RandomAccess is correct, just to ease yer mind. As the car cycles through it's systems check at ignition startup it usually ends with the airbag check (at least it does on mine) and the message you are seeing indicates that was the last system checked. It is not an error code or failure.

Thanks for the quick replies RandomAccess and cadzilla74!!

The reason i was kinda concerned was that in the last 3 months while driving and with someone in the passenger seat the airbag light has came on,and stayed on. I pulled over and turned off the car and started it again and it was out. Just thought that this indication had something to do with it. Thanks again!!

If the car detects someone sitting in the passenger seat that is too light for air bag use it will disable it. That is normal. If it stays on when there is no one in the seat or when a regular sized adult is sitting there, then you have a problem.

If you are getting an airbag light with someone in the seat you are due for a trip to the dealer. Unless the weight of the person or object is less than 110 lbs. If you put say, a laptop or a small person in the passenger seat the light will come on because the car automatically disables the passenger side airbag for the safety of the under weight passenger. If the passenger is 110 lbs or more and you get the light you need to take the car in. There are 4 sensors in the seat, the dealer will put a 110lb weight on the seat and recalibrate the sensors or replace any that do not work properly. I had one replaced under warranty. Do not ignore this problem. It will not go away on it's own.
