So, I just changed my oil for the first time on my Magnum, and I was curious how early everyone changed their oil the first time? Mine was at 700 miles; I had wanted to do it around 500, but I had a wedding that weekend and couldn't get to it.
How early (or late) did everyone do theirs?

I waited until 3k, haven't had any probs. Should be fine, doesn't hurt to change it early, just get expensive.
2005 Midnight Pearl Blue RT
Change mine every 3K miles.
I did my first at 1000 miles just to get out any metal shaveings. Ill do my next at 3000 and switch to Mobil 1.
I changed mine at 371 miles and switched to syntec
1K to synth...

I have been doing most of my own work on my cars since I started to drive (a fondness for cars, a thrifty dad, etc). I have always used regular oil. Is there somewhere online I can read up on the differences with synth? What is the major benefit(s)?
Same here. I also rotate every oil change.Originally Posted by bipto

I did mine first at about 2K and do the 3K thing, as well as the rotate every 3K as well, big heavy car like this can really eat front tires, at least if they are the stock Conti's.
I read an anology somewhere regarding 'dino' oil vs 'synthetic' that was cool...
Picture a roomful of 1" diameter rocks one layer thick.
Picture the same room with one layer of 1" ball bearings.
Which would be easier to walk on?
That's the difference between dino and synth..
