Took my car in for a long overdue oil change and I asked the dealer to take a look at my backup sensors as they have been acting up. Constantly on thinking something is less than 6 inches away.
The tech calls me and says "those backup sensors are aftermarket"...
I explained to him I bought the car new, direct from the factory, and they were an option I chose directly from the dodge website... He is reluctant and said he needs to do some research... I have the original window sticker in the glovebox and he still is skeptical...
Anyone know if the sensors iare not truly mopar or is this guy batty?
As far as I know Magnums never came from the factory with back up sensors. Their is a mopar kit that the dealer can install. Post a pick of your rear fascia.
Only pic I have online at the moment while (still sitting at the dealer while they scratch their heads)

Without looking at a close up of the sensors, they look like either DEI or Echomaster. Definitely not Factory installed.

those look like dealer installed Mopar sensors. can you post a pic of the display?
Definitely aftermarket. That's not even the MoPar dealer installed version.

Ugh.. which means I am SOL... because it didn't come from the factory, and I can't prove the dealership i bought it from installed it... It isn't covered under my extended warranty so I guess either I listen to it beep at me for no reason, or pay to have someone else look at it... (Dealer did say they checked for any loose wires, so it's probably programming/mechanical failure somewhere)
get some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and clean them.
car wash soap leaves a film on the lens thus giving a false reading.. I have the issue with the aftermarket ones on my GF Camry everytime she uses a car wash..

ok so a dealer installed accessory. far as I know, that is not something that is then ADDED to your NEW CAR warranty. So irt brokee. UNPLUG IT. just think, every other magnum DOESNT HAVE THEMN and they all survived somehow.
sorry for the sarcasm but unplug them and forget themm. DONE. PROBLEM SOLVED.
lots of accessories dont last the life of the vehicle. oh well.

if sales code is added to the file before delivery, then the accessory is covered by the basic 3 year warranty. if not, then only 1 year.
also, if added before delivery, it may be covered by chrysler service contract.
from the sounds of it, LP81 has an aftermarket service contract. not sure if they will cover it.
My warranty is the Chrysler Extended warranty purchased directly from the dealer.
I am going to clean them out like Mr Incredible suggested... if that doesn't work, I'll just turn off the sound and deal with it later...
I just thing is crap that I purchased the car new from factory, asked for that add on and turns out it's a Dealership Add on that no one else will recognize as covered... oh well..
